## What it does

The skill runs in two stages. First the agent drafts `content_and_design.md`: form type, organization, role, submission channel, page budget. Then a requirement audit sorts what the applicant types in from what they attach, followed by the section stack — header, instructions, identity, eligibility, fit, open narrative, references, attestation. Every field gets a type and an answer-space intent, down to a word limit.

That blueprint becomes a `.K2F` package and exports to a fillable PDF or DOCX. Layout and typography are the engine's job, so the agent stays on meaning: sections, labels, instructions. The core skill has to be in place first — `npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f`.

Nothing gets invented. Missing equal-opportunity wording or consent language shows up as `NEEDS USER INPUT` rather than plausible-sounding compliance copy, so read the draft before it goes anywhere. Prefilled answers follow the same rule: years and project anchors trace back to what you supplied, and `metric TBD` marks the gaps.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-application-form -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/k2f-application-form/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/k2f-application-form/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-application-form -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/k2f-application-form/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-application-form -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/k2f-application-form/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install suzheng/k2f k2f-application-form
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/k2f-application-form/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-application-form -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/suzheng/k2f --path skills/forms/k2f-application-form
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/k2f-application-form/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f-application-form -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/suzheng/k2f/tree/HEAD/skills/forms/k2f-application-form/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- turn scattered PDF questions into one scannable application
- group fields into sections and drop duplicates from an attached CV
- set a word limit per prompt so reviewers are not buried in prose
- separate what the applicant types from what they upload
- produce a fillable PDF or DOCX with signature and date blocks

## Example prompts
- build a one-page application for a fellowship program, with field types and word limits in content_and_design.md
- draft a membership application: header, instructions, applicant block, open prompts, attestation
- convert this PDF questionnaire into a fillable DOCX and move the long answers to attachments

name: k2f-application-form
description: Blueprint job, program, or membership application forms with clear field architecture, calibrated answer spaces, and professional fillable layout intent—not a resume paste or generic questionnaire dump. Use when the user asks for an application form, printable application, enrollment form, or structured apply document (including role-specific or attachment-backed applications). Create application forms with AI-native design and the highest aesthetic standards, powered by the K2F format and engine. Purpose-built for AI agents, K2F lets them focus on semantic content and design intent while automatically handling layout, typography, and formatting complexity.

# K2F Application Form — AI-Native Aesthetic Design

## Purpose

Teach agents to blueprint **application forms** in `content_and_design.md`: which questions belong on the form versus attachments, how to group and sequence fields, and aesthetic intent (tone, hierarchy, fillable density)—without inventing employers, programs, legal clauses, or eligibility rules the user did not supply.

## Built on K2F

This skill produces application forms as `.K2F` packages. Follow the **k2f** skill for authoring: unpack or init a workspace, edit the semantic tree, pack/verify, and export. K2F keeps agents on *meaning* (sections, labels, field roles, instructions)—not coordinates—while the engine handles layout and typography.

Before you build, install the core skill: `npx skills add suzheng/k2f --skill k2f`.

## When to Use

- Designing or redesigning a **printable or fillable application** for a job, fellowship, grant, membership, volunteer role, or program intake.
- Consolidating scattered PDF questions into one scannable form.
- Prefilled answers in the blueprint when the user is applying; use **k2f-cover-letter** or **k2f-resume** for long prose attachments.

## Workflow

### Step 1. Generate the content_and_design.md

Single blueprint for form content and design intent. Use labeled blocks (header, instructions, sections, field rows, attestations) the **k2f** skill can map later.

**Sub-steps**

1. **Form frame** — Type (employment, academic, grant, membership), organization, role or program, submission channel, **page budget** (often **one page**; **two** only if several narratives are required), tone band (formal, warm nonprofit, startup-direct).
