# jurisdiction-format

Recompiles a patent draft into filing format for CNIPA, USPTO or EPO. Handy once the claims and description are written and the national formatting is the last thing left.

## What it does

The skill reads `patent/CLAIMS.md`, the description sections under `patent/specification/`, figure material from `patent/figures/` and `patent/INVENTION_DISCLOSURE.md` for metadata. It then lays everything out in the structure the chosen office expects and writes the result to `patent/output/`.

Pick the jurisdiction with an argument: `CN`, `US`, `EP` or `ALL`. CNIPA output covers 权利要求书, 说明书 and 说明书摘要. USPTO output covers claims, specification, abstract and an Application Data Sheet skeleton. EPO output puts independent claims in two-part form under Rule 43(1) EPC and adds the mandatory Reference Signs List. Language follows the office too: Chinese for CN, English for US and EP.

Claim content is not rewritten, only reformatted. So a missing antecedent basis or a vague genus stays as it was — that part is on you. `docx` output needs `python-docx`; without it the skill falls back to markdown.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill jurisdiction-format -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/jurisdiction-format/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/jurisdiction-format/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill jurisdiction-format -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/jurisdiction-format/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill jurisdiction-format -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/jurisdiction-format/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep jurisdiction-format
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/jurisdiction-format/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill jurisdiction-format -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --path skills/jurisdiction-format
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/jurisdiction-format/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill jurisdiction-format -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep/tree/HEAD/skills/jurisdiction-format/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- lay out finished claims to CNIPA, USPTO and EPO conventions
- order description sections the way a given office requires
- check that reference numerals match across every generated format
- produce an Application Data Sheet skeleton for a US filing
- compare abstract length against the per-jurisdiction limit

## Example prompts
- /jurisdiction-format ALL
- /jurisdiction-format US
- Recompile the application in patent/ into EPO format

# Jurisdiction Format: Patent Filing Compilation

Compile the patent application into filing-ready format based on: **$ARGUMENTS**

Analogous to `/paper-compile` but for patent document formatting instead of LaTeX.

## Constants

- `JURISDICTION = "auto"` — From pipeline or args: `CN`, `US`, `EP`, `ALL`
- `PATENT_TYPE = "invention"` — `invention` (发明专利) or `utility_model` (实用新型, CN only)
- `OUTPUT_FORMAT = "markdown"` — `markdown` (for review) or `docx` (for filing, requires python-docx)
- `OUTPUT_DIR = "patent/output/"` — Base output directory

## Inputs

1. `patent/CLAIMS.md` — drafted claims
2. `patent/specification/` — all specification sections (title, technical_field, background, summary, drawings_description, detailed_description, abstract)
3. `patent/figures/` — figure descriptions and numeral index
4. `patent/INVENTION_DISCLOSURE.md` — for metadata

## Shared References

Load `../shared-references/patent-format-cn.md` for CNIPA document structure and formatting rules.
Load `../shared-references/patent-format-us.md` for USPTO document structure.
Load `../shared-references/patent-format-ep.md` for EPO document structure.

## Workflow

### Step 1: Determine Output Jurisdictions

From `$ARGUMENTS` or constant:
- `CN` -> Generate CNIPA format only
- `US` -> Generate USPTO format only
- `EP` -> Generate EPO format only
- `ALL` -> Generate all three formats

### Step 2: Generate CN Format (if CN or ALL)

Output to `patent/output/CN/`:

#### 权利要求书 (Claims)
- Extract claims from `patent/CLAIMS.md`
- Format per CNIPA conventions:
  - Independent claims: "1. 一种[主题]的方法，...其特征在于..."
  - Dependent claims: "2. 根据权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于..."
- Ensure Chinese terminology is correct (所述, 其特征在于, 包括, 等)

#### 说明书 (Description)
Combine all specification sections in CNIPA order:
1. 发明名称 (from title.md)
2. 技术领域 (from technical_field.md)
3. 背景技术 (from background.md)
4. 发明内容 (from summary.md — split into 技术问题/技术方案/有益效果)
5. 附图说明 (from drawings_description.md)
```
