## What it does

The skill checks whether the `jira` command is available, then looks for Atlassian MCP tools. It selects the available route and can help search for issues, view ticket details, create issues, change their status, and add comments. If neither route is ready, it guides the user toward CLI setup.

Before changing a ticket, the agent fetches its current state, shows the proposed change, and asks for approval. That matters because project workflows can require intermediate transitions, and Jira description edits have no undo. For MCP assignment, the skill looks up an account ID rather than relying on a display name.

Install it in Claude Code with `npx skills add davila7/claude-code-templates --skill jira -a claude-code`. Reference material covers advanced JQL searches, transitions, and issues with complex fields.

## Requirements
- Works with: Jira

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill ai-research/jira
```

2. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add davila7/claude-code-templates --skill jira -a claude-code
```

3. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/jira/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/jira/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/jira/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/jira/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install davila7/claude-code-templates jira
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/jira/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates --path cli-tool/components/skills/ai-research/jira
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/jira/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates/tree/HEAD/cli-tool/components/skills/ai-research/jira
