## What it does

The skill spells out how to call `jira-cli` from the shell and when the agent should reach for it: the user asks about tickets, sprints, epics or their own current tasks. Inside you get command examples for `jira issue list`, `jira issue create`, `jira issue view`, `jira issue move`, `jira issue assign`, plus comments and worklogs. Separate sections cover epics, sprints, projects and boards.

A flag table lists `--plain` for text output, `--raw` for JSON, `--csv` for exports, `--no-input` to skip prompts and `-q` for raw JQL. There are ready workflows too, such as starting an issue: assign it to yourself, then move it to In Progress.

You need `jira-cli` installed and the `JIRA_API_TOKEN` environment variable set before anything runs. Without a prior `jira init` the commands fail. Some features differ between Jira Cloud and Server, and complex custom fields need the `--custom` flag with field IDs.

## Requirements
- Works with: Jira

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Code-and-Sorts/awesome-copilot-agents --skill jira-cli -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/jira-cli/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/jira-cli/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Code-and-Sorts/awesome-copilot-agents --skill jira-cli -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/jira-cli/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Code-and-Sorts/awesome-copilot-agents --skill jira-cli -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/jira-cli/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Code-and-Sorts/awesome-copilot-agents jira-cli
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/jira-cli/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Code-and-Sorts/awesome-copilot-agents --skill jira-cli -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Code-and-Sorts/awesome-copilot-agents --path skills/jira-cli
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/jira-cli/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Code-and-Sorts/awesome-copilot-agents --skill jira-cli -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/Code-and-Sorts/awesome-copilot-agents/tree/HEAD/skills/jira-cli/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- file a bug or task from the terminal without opening a browser
- move a ticket to a new status and leave a comment
- check your own issues in the active sprint
- add issues to an epic or a sprint
- export an issue list to CSV or JSON for a script

## Example prompts
- show my issues in the current sprint
- create a high priority bug: app crashes on login
- move ISSUE-123 to Done and log 4h
