# jev-browser-use

Delegates mechanical browser actions to Jev while Codex keeps text entry and result checks. Use it for navigation, clicks, toggles, and scrolling.

## What it does

The skill runs browser action loops through `cua_repl`. Jev handles navigation, named clicks, toggles, scrolling, and reloads, while Codex plans the task, interprets the interface, enters text, and checks the result from fresh browser state.

Jev supports persistent sessions, bounded scrolling, and deterministic state waits. It does not enter text, read screenshots, create selectors, coordinates, URLs, or arbitrary content. For uploads, frames, canvas, drag-and-drop, and other unsupported widgets, hand control to Codex tools and then resume the Jev session.

Browser execution has been validated only in Codex with the Computer Use runtime. Claude Code can install the skill, but its browser integration is still coming, so installation alone does not grant browser access. Check for `mcp__cua_repl.js` before starting work.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wy-coliney/jev-browser-use --skill jev-browser-use -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/jev-browser-use/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/jev-browser-use/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wy-coliney/jev-browser-use --skill jev-browser-use -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/jev-browser-use/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wy-coliney/jev-browser-use --skill jev-browser-use -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/jev-browser-use/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install wy-coliney/jev-browser-use jev-browser-use
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/jev-browser-use/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wy-coliney/jev-browser-use --skill jev-browser-use -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/wy-coliney/jev-browser-use --path skills/jev-browser-use
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/jev-browser-use/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wy-coliney/jev-browser-use --skill jev-browser-use -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- navigate between browser pages
- click named buttons and toggles
- scroll a page or container
- reload a tab and wait for state
- verify a result after mechanical actions

## Example prompts
- "Use jev-browser-use to open the requested page and scroll to the settings section."
- "Run jev-browser-use to click the available toggles in the current tab, then check the resulting state."
- "Use jev-browser-use for page navigation and reload the tab after the action."

# Jev browser operations

Installable through `npx skills add` in Codex, Claude Code, and other compatible
Skill hosts. Browser execution is currently validated only in Codex with the
required Computer Use runtime. Claude Code browser integration is coming soon;
installation alone does not provide it. If the runtime is absent, report that
requirement instead of substituting unrelated browser tools.

Use this as the default first route for browser verification. Run the decision/action loop inside `cua_repl` so the host model does not spend a turn on each click. This is a browser-plugin bridge, not a standalone browser driver or a replacement for Codex's judgment.

## Responsibilities and limits

- Codex owns the task, authorization, all text entry, graphical recognition, visual interpretation, sensitive actions, and final verification. Jev is a fast mechanical browser operator: it chooses among currently observed permitted navigation, click, toggle, scroll, reload, and bounded key actions. It never chats, types or writes content, recognizes screenshots, generates selectors, code, coordinates, URLs, or arbitrary text.
- Use only the in-app browser or Google Chrome; never Edge. Follow the current browser tool's first-call rules and documentation. Use `cua_repl` for every UI action. Do not launch a separate Playwright/CDP driver.
- The helper supports named clicks, bounded scrolling, safe navigation keys, reloads, persistent multi-chunk sessions, and deterministic state waits. Scrolling can target the page, a freshly resolved named AX container, or a coordinate supplied once by Codex after visual recognition; Jev never invents coordinates. The helper deliberately exposes no text-entry action. Codex enters text and then resumes the same Jev session. Native select APIs, frames, canvas, drag-and-drop, uploads, screenshots as model input, and native desktop apps are not implemented in the helper. Use Codex's CUA tools for those gaps and resume Jev rather than abandoning delegation.
- Jev returns `needs_verification`, never a verified pass. Codex must independently check the requested result using fresh browser state and screenshots when appropriate. A successful scroll may leave AX text unchanged; the helper records `effectNeedsVisualVerification` and continues instead of falsely declaring no progress.
