## What it does

Reach for this skill when a live Ionic Appflow project needs a migration plan. Appflow shuts down on December 31, 2027, and new customer sales stopped in February 2025, so the move is a question of when.

The import does most of the work. Ionic Appflow exports an organization as a zip, and the Capawesome CLI pulls apps, signing certificates, environments, live update channels, native configurations, store destinations, build automations and repository links out of it. From there the agent swaps the Live Update SDK in the app (`@capacitor/live-updates` or `cordova-plugin-ionic`), maps configuration options, updates CI/CD pipelines and verifies builds, live updates and store deployments. Pure Cordova apps without Capacitor use `@capawesome/cordova-live-update` instead.

You need Node.js 18+, npm, Capawesome CLI 4.21.0 or later and a Capawesome Cloud account. The automated import also requires admin access to the Ionic Appflow organization — without it, steps 3 through 7 are skipped and the manual fallback takes over. Run the import exactly once: a second pass creates renamed duplicates instead of updating apps. The export is a plaintext credential dump, so the skill forbids unzipping, reading or logging it. Pass the path to `npx @capawesome/cli apps:import --file <path>` and get app names for `--include` from `--dry-run`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill ionic-appflow-migration -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ionic-appflow-migration/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ionic-appflow-migration/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill ionic-appflow-migration -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ionic-appflow-migration/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill ionic-appflow-migration -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ionic-appflow-migration/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install capawesome-team/skills ionic-appflow-migration
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/ionic-appflow-migration/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill ionic-appflow-migration -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/capawesome-team/skills --path skills/ionic-appflow-migration
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/ionic-appflow-migration/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill ionic-appflow-migration -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/capawesome-team/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/ionic-appflow-migration/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- move apps, certificates and environments out of Ionic Appflow without retyping them
- replace the Live Update SDK in the codebase
- rebuild CI/CD pipelines for the new platform
- verify builds, live updates and store deployments after the move
- migrate without Appflow organization admin rights

## Example prompts
- Migrate my project from Ionic Appflow to Capawesome Cloud using the ionic-appflow-migration skill
- Import the organization export with `npx @capawesome/cli apps:import --file <path>` and show me the summary
- Swap `@capacitor/live-updates` for the new SDK and update the pipelines

# Ionic Appflow Migration

Migrate an existing Ionic Appflow project to Capawesome Cloud.

Most of the migration is automated: Ionic Appflow can export an organization as a zip file, and the Capawesome CLI imports it with a single command — apps, signing certificates, environments, live update channels, native configurations, store destinations, and build automations included. The remaining work is swapping the Live Update SDK in the app, connecting the Git provider, and updating CI/CD pipelines.
