# invoice-template

This skill turns structured invoice data into a finished PDF: line items, tax, totals, billing details. Useful when invoices follow a template instead of being drawn by hand.

## What it does

Feed it invoice data — number, dates, sender and recipient, line items with quantity and rate, tax rate — and it produces a PDF. Line amounts and the grand total are computed in code rather than trusted from the input, so an arithmetic slip in your data will not reach the document.

Two routes are shown. One draws the PDF with ReportLab: header, from/to blocks, an items table, subtotal, tax and total. The other renders an HTML template with Jinja2 and WeasyPrint, which is easier when you want branded styling you can edit later. A third path goes through the `office-mcp` server and its `create_docx`, `fill_docx_template` and `docx_to_pdf` tools.

Install the dependencies first: `pip install python-docx openpyxl python-pptx reportlab jinja2`. Skip ReportLab or WeasyPrint and no PDF comes out, since those libraries write the file. English and Chinese are the supported languages.

## Install

npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill invoice-template -a claude-code
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/invoice-template/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/invoice-template/
### Codex
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill invoice-template -a codex
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
```python
invoice_data = {
    "invoice_number": "INV-2026-001",
    "date": "2026-01-30",
    "due_date": "2026-02-28",

    "from": {

    },

    "to": {
        "name": "Client Name",
        "address": "456 Client Ave",
        "email": "client@example.com"
    },

    "items": [
        {"description": "Consulting", "quantity": 10, "rate": 150.00},
        {"description": "Development", "quantity": 20, "rate": 100.00}
    ],

    "tax_rate": 0.08,
    "notes": "Payment due within 30 days"
}
```
### PDF Generation with ReportLab
```python
from reportlab.lib.pagesizes import letter
from reportlab.pdfgen import canvas
from reportlab.lib.units import inch

def create_invoice(data: dict, output_path: str):
    c = canvas.Canvas(output_path, pagesize=letter)
    width, height = letter

    # Header
    c.setFont("Helvetica-Bold", 24)
    c.drawString(1*inch, height - 1*inch, "INVOICE")

    # Invoice details
    c.setFont("Helvetica", 12)
