## What it does

The skill lays out Intercom automation as YAML configs. It covers welcome messages for new users, trial-expiry reminders and feature announcements aimed at specific segments.

Segments are built from filters on subscription status, session count, last activity and company size. There is also a section on computed custom attributes: health score, lifecycle stage, account tier. The onboarding series is split by day and channel, mixing in-app messages with email.

Support routing rules are included too: enterprise accounts get urgent priority, billing keywords get a tag and a team, technical complaints can open a Jira ticket. Everything runs through the `helpdesk-mcp` MCP server with the `intercom_message`, `intercom_user`, `intercom_conversation` and `intercom_articles` tools, so the skill is dead without it. Prices like `$29/mo` in the bot reply example are placeholders, not your plan list.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill intercom-automation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/intercom-automation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/intercom-automation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill intercom-automation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/intercom-automation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill intercom-automation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/intercom-automation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills intercom-automation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/intercom-automation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill intercom-automation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path intercom-automation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/intercom-automation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill intercom-automation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/intercom-automation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- set up a delayed welcome message for new signups
- split users into segments by activity and subscription status
- build a day-by-day onboarding series across email and in-app
- route billing conversations to a dedicated team with a tag
- define a product tour anchored to UI elements

## Example prompts
- Set up Intercom automation: send a welcome chat 5 minutes after signup
- Build an at_risk_users segment — active subscription, last seen more than 30 days ago
- Add routing: messages containing billing, charge or invoice go to billing_support
