## What it does

The skill generates `PlatformEventChannelMember` and `PlatformEventChannel` metadata files to stream Salesforce data updates via Change Data Capture. It handles the default `ChangeEvents` channel and custom channels ending in `__chn`. The skill also manages tricky naming conventions, such as keeping single underscores in filenames while retaining double underscores in XML tags for custom objects.

It supports enrichment fields and SOQL-based filter expressions to control payload contents. You need Salesforce CLI `sf` version 2.0.0 or higher and Metadata API 60.0+. Custom Platform Event definitions and Apex subscriber logic remain outside its scope. Deployments will fail if channel naming rules are violated, making correct metadata generation essential.

## When to use it
- enable Change Data Capture on standard or custom Salesforce objects
- create custom event channels using the required `__chn` naming format
- add enrichment fields so consumers receive unchanged lookup values
- define SOQL filter expressions to emit only relevant change events

# Managing Change Data Capture Enablement

Generate the metadata that subscribes Salesforce objects to Change Data Capture: `PlatformEventChannelMember` files for the default `ChangeEvents` channel or a custom channel, and `PlatformEventChannel` files for new custom channels. Covers enrichment fields, filter expressions, and the canonical naming and value formats that the Metadata API actually accepts (which differ from values that appear in many internal test fixtures and code-search hits).

## Scope

- **In scope**: Generating `PlatformEventChannelMember` and `PlatformEventChannel` metadata for CDC. Subscribing standard objects, custom objects, or both. Configuring enrichment fields. Configuring filter expressions. Defining custom data channels.
- **Out of scope**: Publishing custom platform events (PE) — that's a different metadata type (`PlatformEvent`). Pub/Sub API or external Kafka/Bayeux configuration.
