## What it does

Everything lives on `https://instagram.fetcher.sh` and every one of the 16 endpoints is a plain `GET` at $0.004 per call. You get profile lookup by @handle, account search by keyword, a user's posts, reels, stories and tagged posts, followers and followings, a single post by shortcode, its comments, hashtag feeds, location feeds and posts tied to an audio track. Responses follow one shape: `{ "status": number, "message": string, "data": ... }`.

Two ways to pay. Prepaid credits put a `bby_live_...` key in the `Authorization: Bearer` header and you are done. Or x402: send a request with no header, get a 402 back with machine-readable USDC payment terms, and let `@x402/fetch` sign and retry. No login, no session cookies, no headless browser, no Graph API business verification.

Pagination runs on `cursor` or `page`; the user search endpoint requires `query`. An MCP server sits at `https://instagram.fetcher.sh/mcp`, where `search_endpoints`, `describe_endpoint` and `check_balance` cost nothing and only `fetch_data` bills you. Without a key or a configured x402 client the paid calls simply fail, so wire up payment before you build anything on top.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add fetcher-sh/fetcher-skills --skill instagram-api -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/instagram-api/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/instagram-api/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add fetcher-sh/fetcher-skills --skill instagram-api -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/instagram-api/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add fetcher-sh/fetcher-skills --skill instagram-api -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/instagram-api/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install fetcher-sh/fetcher-skills instagram-api
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/instagram-api/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add fetcher-sh/fetcher-skills --skill instagram-api -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/fetcher-sh/fetcher-skills --path skills/instagram-api
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/instagram-api/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add fetcher-sh/fetcher-skills --skill instagram-api -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/fetcher-sh/fetcher-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/instagram-api/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- turn an @handle into a numeric user ID
- export a profile's follower list
- pull a competitor's recent posts and reels
- read the comments on one post
- track fresh posts under a hashtag or location

## Example prompts
- Resolve the profile `@nasa` with instagram-api and show its follower count
- Pull recent posts and reels for user ID `528817151`
- Fetch posts under the `travel` hashtag and put them in a table
