## What it does

The skill wraps the `indexion kgf` subcommands. `list` prints installed specs, `update` pulls the latest ones from GitHub, `add` installs a single spec by name. To dig into one file use `inspect` for the whole pipeline, or `tokens`, `events` and `edges` separately. Pass `--spec=NAME` to pick a spec instead of auto-detecting it, and `--kgf-dir=PATH` to point at another specs directory — the default is `kgfs`.

It earns its place when `indexion grep` misses a match. Grep patterns run on KGF tokenization, and aliases like `pub` → `KW_pub` come from the `=== lex` section of a spec. Check the real tokens first with `kgf tokens`, then rewrite the pattern around the token kinds you actually see. The skill also walks through the usual spec-writing bugs: PEG alternatives match first-wins, a missing `NL?` between a doc comment and its keyword, token priority conflicts, and bottom-up event order where `bind`/`$scope` carries data from child to parent.

After editing a spec, verify that the doc comment landed in the `declares` edges. If it did not, run `events` and trace where the `DocComment` went. Everything here drives the `indexion` CLI, so the commands print nothing useful without it installed.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add trkbt10/indexion-skills --skill indexion-kgf -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/indexion-kgf/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/indexion-kgf/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add trkbt10/indexion-skills --skill indexion-kgf -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/indexion-kgf/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add trkbt10/indexion-skills --skill indexion-kgf -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/indexion-kgf/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install trkbt10/indexion-skills indexion-kgf
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/indexion-kgf/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add trkbt10/indexion-skills --skill indexion-kgf -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/trkbt10/indexion-skills --path skills/indexion-kgf
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/indexion-kgf/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add trkbt10/indexion-skills --skill indexion-kgf -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/trkbt10/indexion-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/indexion-kgf/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- see how a specific file gets tokenized
- trace where a doc comment disappeared from declares edges
- fix a grep pattern that never matches the code
- work out PEG alternative ordering in a spec
- confirm a spec edit keeps doc in the declares edges

## Example prompts
- show me the tokens for `src/config/paths.mbt`
- why doesn't grep match `KW_pub KW_fn` in this file?
- compare the parse events for `test_file.ts` against the typescript spec

# indexion kgf

Inspect and debug KGF language specs by viewing tokens, parse events, and extracted edges.

## When to Use

- User wants to debug how indexion processes a specific file
- User is developing or modifying a KGF spec
- User asks "how does indexion parse this file?"
- Verifying that tokenization/parsing works correctly for a language
- **Debugging grep patterns**: when a grep pattern doesn't match, use
  `kgf tokens` to see the actual token kinds

## Subcommands

### `indexion kgf list` — List Installed Specs

```bash
indexion kgf list
```

### `indexion kgf update` — Update All Specs

Download the latest specs from GitHub.

```bash
indexion kgf update
```

### `indexion kgf add` — Install a Single Spec

```bash
indexion kgf add <spec-name>
```

### `indexion kgf inspect` — Full Inspection

Show tokens, events, and edges all at once.

```bash
indexion kgf inspect <file>
indexion kgf inspect --spec=typescript src/app.ts
```

### `indexion kgf tokens` — Tokenization Only

Show how a file is tokenized.

```bash
indexion kgf tokens <file>
indexion kgf tokens --spec=go-mod go.mod
```

### `indexion kgf events` — Parse Events Only

Show parse events generated from tokens.

```bash
indexion kgf events <file>
```

### `indexion kgf edges` — Extracted Edges Only

Show the dependency edges extracted from a file.

```bash
indexion kgf edges <file>
indexion kgf edges fixtures/project/npm/package.json
```

## Options

| Option | Default | Description |
|--------|---------|-------------|
| `--spec=NAME` | auto-detect | KGF spec name to use |
| `--kgf-dir=PATH` | kgfs | KGF specs directory |

## Relationship to grep

`indexion grep` uses KGF tokenization under the hood. Pattern aliases
(`pub` → `KW_pub`) are derived from the `=== lex` section of KGF specs.

When a grep pattern doesn't match as expected:

```bash
# 1. See the actual tokens for a file
indexion kgf tokens src/config/paths.mbt
# 2. Check which token kinds exist
indexion kgf tokens src/config/paths.mbt | head -20
# 3. Then adjust your grep pattern to match the actual token kinds
indexion grep "KW_pub KW_fn Ident" src/config/paths.mbt
```

Common token kinds (MoonBit):
- `KW_pub`, `KW_fn`, `KW_struct`, `KW_enum`, `KW_type`, `KW_trait`, `KW_let`, `KW_for`
- `Ident` (lowercase identifiers), `TypeIdent` (PascalCase type names)
