## What it does

This skill extracts flight data directly from rendered Google Flights web pages using DOM adapters. It retrieves available flights with prices, travel duration, stops, and airline details. You can also explore candidate destinations from an origin city without setting a fixed arrival airport.

Most operations rely on the `tfs` route parameter copied from a Google Flights URL. Without this encoded string, queries like `searchFlights`, `getPriceInsights`, and `getFlightOverview` cannot resolve the specific route or fetch monthly price predictions.

The tool also pulls itinerary specifics through `getFlightBookingDetails`, including baggage allowances and booking links. All actions run through the `openweb` CLI wrapper.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add imoonkey/openweb --skill google-flights -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/google-flights/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/google-flights/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add imoonkey/openweb --skill google-flights -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/google-flights/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add imoonkey/openweb --skill google-flights -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/google-flights/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install imoonkey/openweb google-flights
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/google-flights/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add imoonkey/openweb --skill google-flights -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/imoonkey/openweb --path src/sites/google-flights
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/google-flights/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add imoonkey/openweb --skill google-flights -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- search flights on a specific route with prices and durations
- identify the cheapest and most expensive months for travel
- explore budget destinations from a departure city
- fetch baggage policies and booking links for an itinerary

## Example prompts
- Find flights for route tfs `CBwQAhopEgoyMDI2LTA0LTMwagwIAhIIL20vMGZ2eWdy...` using searchFlights
- Explore travel destinations from my default departure city
- Get baggage policies and booking links for the selected flight

# Google Flights

## Overview
Flight search and pricing — adapter-based DOM extraction from rendered Google Flights pages.

## Workflows

### Search flights on a route
1. `searchFlights(tfs)` → `flights[]` with airline, times, price, stops, duration

### Explore destinations from an origin
1. `exploreDestinations()` → `destinations[]` with flightPrice, dates, stops
2. Build `tfs` for a chosen destination → `searchFlights(tfs)` for specific flights

### Compare search results with price insights
1. `searchFlights(tfs)` → current flight options and prices
2. `getPriceInsights(tfs)` → cheapest/most expensive months, price trend, popular airlines
3. `getFlightOverview(tfs)` → cheapest fares and fastest nonstop for the route

All `tfs`-based operations share the same encoded route parameter (from the Google Flights URL).

### Get booking details for a specific itinerary
1. `searchFlights(tfs)` → pick a flight
2. `getFlightBookingDetails(tfs)` → leg details, baggage policies, booking links

## Operations

| Operation | Intent | Key Input | Key Output | Notes |
|-----------|--------|-----------|------------|-------|
| searchFlights | search flights by route and dates | tfs (encoded route+dates) | origin, destination, flights[].airline, price, stops, duration | entry point; verified |
| getFlightOverview | cheapest fares and fastest flight for a route | tfs (encoded route) | cheapestOptions[].price, airline, fastestFlight, nonstopFrequency | entry point; same tfs |
| getFlightBookingDetails | itinerary details with baggage | tfs (encoded itinerary) | totalPrice, legs[].airline, duration, bagPolicies, bookWith | entry point; same tfs |
| exploreDestinations | browse destinations by budget from origin | — (optional tfs) | destinations[].destination, flightPrice, hotelPricePerNight, dates | entry point |
| getPriceInsights | monthly price trends and predictions | tfs (encoded route) | priceTrend, cheapestMonth, mostExpensiveMonth, popularAirlines | entry point; same tfs |

## Quick Start

```bash
# Search flights RDU → LGA (tfs from Google Flights URL)
openweb google-flights exec searchFlights '{"tfs":"CBwQAhopEgoyMDI2LTA0LTMwagwIAhIIL20vMGZ2eWdyDQgDEgkvbS8wMl8yODYaKRIKMjAyNi0wNS0wNGoNCAMSCS9tLzAyXzI4NnIMCAISCC9tLzBmdnlnQAFIAXABggELCP___________wGYAQE"}'
# Explore destinations (default origin)
openweb google-flights exec exploreDestinations '{}'
# Price insights for a route
openweb google-flights exec getPriceInsights '{"tfs":"CBwQAhopEgoyMDI2LTA0LTMwagwIAhIIL20vMGZ2eWdyDQgDEgkvbS8wMl8yODYaKRIKMjAyNi0wNS0wNGoNCAMSCS9tLzAyXzI4NnIMCAISCC9tLzBmdnlnQAFIAXABggELCP___________wGYAQE"}'
```
