## What it does

The skill takes a flat slide apart layer by layer, then assembles it again as a `.pptx` where a headline is a real text box and a picture moves independently of the background. Speaker notes come along when they were supplied. Input can be one image, several images, a PDF, or a PPT/PPTX whose slides lost their objects long ago. It does not author a new deck from scratch.

Under the hood sits the `editppt` runtime, and it is not optional. `editppt prepare <input...>` creates the run directory; after that only CLI commands move the state forward, because hand-edited run JSON breaks resumability. Multi-page input goes to per-page workers. No subagent capability plus more than one page means the skill stops and reports it rather than dumping the whole deck on the parent agent. A single page gets rebuilt locally after `editppt run dispatch --local`.

OCR (PaddleOCR) and an image backend are part of the path: the built-in `image_gen.imagegen` first, `editppt image generate/edit` as fallback. Which means page images leave your machine. On an NDA deck that is a reason to mark the run local-only or confidential before starting — the skill honours such a request. And run `editppt --help` early: if it fails, install the runtime first instead of trying to convert.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ningzimu/image-to-editable-ppt-skill --skill image-to-editable-ppt -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/image-to-editable-ppt/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/image-to-editable-ppt/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ningzimu/image-to-editable-ppt-skill --skill image-to-editable-ppt -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/image-to-editable-ppt/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ningzimu/image-to-editable-ppt-skill --skill image-to-editable-ppt -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/image-to-editable-ppt/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install ningzimu/image-to-editable-ppt-skill image-to-editable-ppt
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/image-to-editable-ppt/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ningzimu/image-to-editable-ppt-skill --skill image-to-editable-ppt -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/ningzimu/image-to-editable-ppt-skill --path skills/image-to-editable-ppt
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/image-to-editable-ppt/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ningzimu/image-to-editable-ppt-skill --skill image-to-editable-ppt -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- turn slide screenshots into an editable `.pptx`
- rebuild a scanned deck with real text boxes and shapes
- recover objects from a PDF deck of flat pages
- carry speaker notes through a rebuild
- repair one bad page without redoing the deck

## Example prompts
- Rebuild `deck.pdf` as an editable `.pptx`, with every headline and image as its own object
- Reconstruct the slide in `shot.png` and keep the notes from `notes.txt`
- Page 3 came out wrong — rerun just that page, leave the rest alone

# Image to Editable PPT

## Overview

Use the `editppt` runtime to decompose, reconstruct, validate, and assemble visual slides as editable `.pptx`. Inputs may be single or multiple images, PDF, or image-based PPT/PPTX.

## References

Each rule in this skill has exactly one authoritative home; the other files point to it instead of restating it.

- `prompts/page-worker.md`: execution template for page workers — ownership boundary, execution order, required outputs, and return format. The parent agent uses it when generating page-worker prompts.
- `scripts/build-page-worker-prompt.py`: skill-local prompt builder. It reads `prompts/page-worker.md`, fills run/page paths, writes `worker-prompt.md`, and prints the dispatch command template.
- `references/cli-helper.md`: CLI install check (Pre-Run Check), command tree, and command syntax examples. Read it when deciding which `editppt` command to call.
- `references/manifest-schema.md`: the single home for JSON field contracts of deck/page/image artifacts — required manifest fields, positioned-object coordinates, `validation.json`, and `page_result.json` shapes. Read it when writing or validating any run/page file.
- `references/page-decision-tree.md`: the single source of truth for page object decisions — background handling, foreground asset separation, native shapes, formulas, text-hints usage, the final self-check, and the fix-versus-warning split. Read its common decision boundaries first, then the sections relevant to the page inventory; the page prompt provides the reading route.

## Entry Contract

These parent-level rules are stated once here; page-level rules live in the references above and are not restated in this file.
