## What it does

The skill inspects your HubSpot marketing database in read-only mode and writes zero changes to the portal. It evaluates deliverability through bounce metrics, tracks accounts with no opens in 90 days, and highlights blank lifecycle stages. Pipelines and deals are deliberately skipped. It keeps the audit strictly focused on marketing operations.

Executing the audit requires the companion `hubspot-audit` skill in your directory tree because the `audit_portal.py` script lives there. You must have Python 3.10+, `uv`, and a `HUBSPOT_ACCESS_TOKEN` inside `.env` with read scopes for contacts, companies, owners, lists, forms, and automation.

Results land in `reports/` as paired Markdown and JSON summaries. The included prescription matrix links each discovered issue directly to follow-up cleanup tasks, from suppressing bounce contacts to retiring redundant forms.

## Requirements
- Works with: HubSpot

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --skill hubspot-marketing-audit -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/hubspot-marketing-audit/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/hubspot-marketing-audit/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --skill hubspot-marketing-audit -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/hubspot-marketing-audit/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --skill hubspot-marketing-audit -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/hubspot-marketing-audit/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills hubspot-marketing-audit
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/hubspot-marketing-audit/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --skill hubspot-marketing-audit -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --path skills/hubspot-marketing-audit
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/hubspot-marketing-audit/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills --skill hubspot-marketing-audit -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/TomGranot/hubspot-admin-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/hubspot-marketing-audit/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- find billed marketing contacts that bounce or unsubscribed
- spot missing lifecycle stages and job titles before segmenting
- tally inactive workflows, forms, and sprawling lists
- prepare HubSpot database for cleanup or migration

## Example prompts
- Run marketing audit on HubSpot using uv run ../hubspot-audit/scripts/audit_portal.py --scope marketing
- Audit HubSpot deliverability and output findings to reports/
- Analyze unengaged and hard bounced marketing contacts in HubSpot

# HubSpot Marketing Audit

A read-only audit of everything marketing operations owns in a HubSpot portal. It answers three questions: can we reach the people in this database, do we know enough about them to segment, and how much of what we pay for is dead weight.

## Why This Matters

Marketing pays for contacts by the tier and earns deliverability by the send. A database full of bounced, unsubscribed, and never-engaged contacts costs money on one side and sender reputation on the other, and both problems stay invisible until someone counts. This audit counts.

## How It Relates to the Other Audits

This skill is a lens on the same engine that powers `/hubspot-audit` and `/hubspot-sales-audit`. It runs the **shared** dimensions (database size, owner health, company data, duplicates) plus the **marketing** dimensions, and skips pipelines and deals entirely. Because the shared dimensions are computed by the same code under every scope, the numbers here match what the sales team sees in their audit.

| If you own | Run |
|------------|-----|
| Marketing only | this skill |
| Sales only | `/hubspot-sales-audit` |
| The whole portal | `/hubspot-audit` (both lenses in one report) |

## Prerequisites

- The `hubspot-audit` skill installed alongside this one (it ships the engine)
- `HUBSPOT_ACCESS_TOKEN` in `.env`, with read scopes for contacts, companies, owners, lists, forms, and `automation`
- Python 3.10+ with [`uv`](https://github.com/astral-sh/uv)

No Marketing Hub tier is required to run the audit. Rows that need a feature the portal does not have show `n/a`.

## Run It

The engine lives in the `hubspot-audit` skill, one directory over from this one. Run it from your project directory so `.env` and `reports/` resolve there (in a clone of the repo the path is `skills/hubspot-audit/scripts/audit_portal.py`).

```bash
uv run ../hubspot-audit/scripts/audit_portal.py --scope marketing
```

Output: `reports/hubspot-marketing-audit-{YYYY-MM-DD}.md` and a `.json` twin.

## What It Measures
