## What it does

This skill queries Huawei Cloud network resources strictly in read-only mode. It gathers configuration details for VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, EIPs, ELB balancers, NAT gateways, VPN tunnels, and DNS zones. Because write actions are disabled by design, running inventory checks will not risk breaking production routing rules.

Execution relies entirely on local Python scripts calling the Huawei Cloud Python SDK. The skill explicitly forbids using `hcloud`, `openstack`, or direct cURL calls. Before querying, it runs `check_env.sh` (or `check_env.ps1` on Windows) to verify Python 3.6 or higher and prepare dependencies inside `.venv`.

Working with the tool requires `HW_ACCESS_KEY` and `HW_SECRET_KEY`. By default, it targets the `cn-north-4` region via `HW_REGION_NAME`. If `HW_PROJECT_ID` is omitted, the scripts fetch it automatically through the IAM API.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add huaweicloud/huaweicloud-skills --skill huawei-cloud-network-query -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/huawei-cloud-network-query/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/huawei-cloud-network-query/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add huaweicloud/huaweicloud-skills --skill huawei-cloud-network-query -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/huawei-cloud-network-query/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add huaweicloud/huaweicloud-skills --skill huawei-cloud-network-query -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/huawei-cloud-network-query/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install huaweicloud/huaweicloud-skills huawei-cloud-network-query
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/huawei-cloud-network-query/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add huaweicloud/huaweicloud-skills --skill huawei-cloud-network-query -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/huaweicloud/huaweicloud-skills --path skills/network/ops/huawei-cloud-network-query
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/huawei-cloud-network-query/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add huaweicloud/huaweicloud-skills --skill huawei-cloud-network-query -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/huaweicloud/huaweicloud-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/network/ops/huawei-cloud-network-query/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- Audit security group rules and firewall configurations
- Inspect ELB load balancers, listeners, and backend pools
- Verify NAT gateway status and SNAT or DNAT forwarding rules
- Query VPC topology, subnets, and route tables
- Check VPN tunnel connections and DNS record sets

## Example prompts
- List all security group rules for subnets in cn-north-4
- Check the status of our Huawei Cloud VPN connections
- Show ELB load balancers along with their listeners and pools

## Overview

This skill is an independent read-only query skill that queries Huawei Cloud resources, available specifications, and existing resource information by calling the Huawei Cloud Python SDK via local Python scripts.

This skill is applicable to the following scenarios:

1. Query available cloud resource specifications in a specific region
2. Query which images are available for a certain operating system
3. Query cloud disk types and existing cloud disk information
4. Query existing resources and their key attributes
5. Query resources that were not created through Terraform or other IaC tools
6. Prepare real parameters for automated configuration, resource verification, or environment inventory
7. Obtain reusable information such as resource IDs, names, specifications, images, networks, and disks

This skill is NOT responsible for:

1. Creating resources
2. Modifying resources
3. Deleting resources
4. Guessing or fabricating information that has not been queried
