## What it does

The skill hands the agent Marp syntax: `---` between slides, a frontmatter block with `marp: true`, a theme and a slide size. You describe the slide structure, the agent writes the file and runs the conversion.

Inside are command examples like `marp slides.md -o presentation.pptx`, the built-in themes `default`, `gaia` and `uncover`, the `lead` and `invert` classes, sized images such as `![width:500px](image.png)`, tables and code blocks. There are Python and Node.js starting points too: a `subprocess.run` wrapper and a `marpCli` call from `@marp-team/marp-cli`.

Conversion runs through the Marp CLI, so that has to be installed separately — without it the command just won't resolve. The skill metadata also names the `office-mcp` MCP server with a `pptx_to_html` tool, though that goes the other way, from PowerPoint back to HTML.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill html-to-ppt -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/html-to-ppt/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/html-to-ppt/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill html-to-ppt -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/html-to-ppt/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill html-to-ppt -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/html-to-ppt/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills html-to-ppt
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/html-to-ppt/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill html-to-ppt -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path html-to-ppt
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/html-to-ppt/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill html-to-ppt -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/html-to-ppt/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a slide deck from an existing Markdown draft
- export notes to PDF without laying anything out by hand
- apply one theme and page numbers across every slide
- place an image at a set width or as a slide background
- generate a presentation from structured data in a script

## Example prompts
- Convert this markdown to a PowerPoint presentation
- Create slides from this outline using Marp with the gaia theme
- Generate a PDF slide deck from this markdown

# HTML/Markdown to PowerPoint Skill

## Overview

This skill enables conversion from Markdown or HTML to professional PowerPoint presentations using **Marp** (Markdown Presentation Ecosystem). Create beautiful, consistent slides using simple Markdown syntax with CSS-based themes.

## How to Use

1. Provide Markdown content structured for slides
2. Optionally specify a theme or custom styling
3. I'll convert it to PowerPoint, PDF, or HTML slides

**Example prompts:**
- "Convert this markdown to a PowerPoint presentation"
- "Create slides from this outline using Marp"
- "Turn my notes into a presentation with the gaia theme"
- "Generate a PDF slide deck from this markdown"

## Domain Knowledge

### Marp Fundamentals

Marp uses a simple syntax where `---` separates slides:

```markdown
---
marp: true
theme: default
---
# Slide 1 Title
Content for first slide
---
# Slide 2 Title
Content for second slide
```

### Command Line Usage

```bash
# Convert to PowerPoint
marp slides.md -o presentation.pptx
# Convert to PDF
marp slides.md -o presentation.pdf
# Convert to HTML
marp slides.md -o presentation.html
# With specific theme
marp slides.md --theme gaia -o presentation.pptx
```

### Slide Structure

#### Basic Slide
```markdown
---
marp: true
---
# Title
- Bullet point 1
- Bullet point 2
- Bullet point 3
```

#### Title Slide
```markdown
---
marp: true
theme: gaia
class: lead
---
# Presentation Title
## Subtitle
Author Name
Date
```

### Frontmatter Options

```yaml
---
marp: true
theme: default          # default, gaia, uncover
size: 16:9              # 4:3, 16:9, or custom
paginate: true          # Show page numbers
header: 'Company Name'  # Header text
footer: 'Confidential'  # Footer text
backgroundColor: #fff
backgroundImage: url('bg.png')
---
```
