## What it does

The `query` skill wires your agent into the Honeydew semantic layer and offers two ways to answer a data question. Deep analysis runs through `initiate_analysis` and `monitor_analysis`, and it is the default path because it is the only one that applies the context layer — your organization's instructions and knowledge about which fields and definitions fit the question. A structured query through `get_data_from_fields` or `get_sql_from_fields` executes a specification you already trust: you named the fields, a previous analysis reported them, or the specification is what you are testing. Execution is deterministic, and nothing checks that the specification is right.

The skill also covers reviewing earlier runs. `get_analysis_step_details` explains how one step of a past analysis was calculated, `list_analysis_chats` and `get_stored_conversation` reach past conversations, and `list_query_history` shows what ran and from which client.

Queries execute against the workspace and branch set for the current session. Check the context with `get_session_workspace_and_branch`, then pick one with `list_workspaces`, `list_workspace_branches` and `set_session_workspace_and_branch`. With no branch set there is nothing to run against, so choose one first. Model and field discovery lives in the separate `model-exploration` skill.

## Overview

Honeydew gives you two ways to answer a question about the data, plus tools for reviewing analyses and queries that already ran. Choose between the two by asking whether the specification — which fields, which filters, which population — is given to you or chosen by you.
