## What it does

Claude Code acts as the orchestrator: it plans, inspects diffs, and merges changes. Grunt coding tasks go to `opencode` CLI workers running on free tiers like `opencode/mimo-v2.5-free`. Worktree isolation lets workers run concurrently without colliding on the same files.

Specialized agents handle specific jobs. The scout persona only investigates code and cannot write files. The coder agent implements subtasks inside its own worktree, while the tester runs tests without editing source files. Claims get checked with `scripts/oc-verify.mjs` on an alternative model, defaulting to `opencode/nemotron-3.5-lightning-free`.

Running this skill requires Node.js 18+, the `opencode` CLI, and an active login via `opencode auth login`. Windows users must set `OPENCODE_GIT_BASH_PATH`. Default runs send prompts and diffs to opencode cloud servers. Point `--model` at Ollama or LM Studio if you need code to stay local.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add alirezarezvani/claude-skills
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install hivemind@claude-code-skills
```
This installs the whole hivemind plugin with all its skills

2. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alirezarezvani/claude-skills --skill hivemind -a claude-code
```

3. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/hivemind/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/hivemind/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/hivemind/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/hivemind/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install alirezarezvani/claude-skills hivemind
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/hivemind/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/alirezarezvani/claude-skills --path engineering/hivemind
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/hivemind/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/alirezarezvani/claude-skills/tree/HEAD/engineering/hivemind/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- delegate repetitive coding tasks to free external models
- run parallel code reviews across security, performance, and style
- isolate worker edits using dedicated git worktrees
- verify worker findings with an independent secondary model

## Example prompts
- /hive inspect the repository and identify outdated dependencies
- /swarm write unit tests for the authentication handler
- /review-panel origin/main..HEAD

# Hivemind: Claude Code as Orchestrator, opencode as Free Worker Swarm

Claude Code = brain (plans, reviews, merges). opencode = disposable workers on free models
(`opencode/mimo-v2.5-free` default; verified $0.00 per run).

## Prerequisites (external dependency)

This skill is a thin orchestration layer over **[opencode](https://opencode.ai)**, a
third-party CLI. It is not bundled — install and authenticate it yourself first:

| Requirement | Notes |
|---|---|
| Node.js >= 18 | The scripts use `fetch` and `node:timers/promises`. |
| `opencode` CLI on `PATH` | `npm i -g opencode-ai` (or the installer opencode documents). |
| An authenticated opencode account | `opencode auth login`. Workers run as your account. |
| Default model `opencode/mimo-v2.5-free` | A free tier offered by opencode, not by Anthropic. Availability, rate limits, and pricing are opencode's to change — override with `--model` at any time. |
| Windows only: `OPENCODE_GIT_BASH_PATH` | Point at `C:\Program Files\Git\bin\bash.exe`, set persistently. |

## Data flow (read before installing)

Hivemind is opt-in and ships outside every domain bundle. **By default your code
leaves your machine:** the default model, `opencode/mimo-v2.5-free`, runs on
opencode's hosted service, so each worker sends its prompt, plus any files or diffs
you give it, to opencode's endpoints. Nothing on the worker side calls the Anthropic
API.

To keep code local, point `--model` at a model served on your own machine (for
example an Ollama or LM Studio provider configured in your opencode config). With a
hosted model, delegate only code you are allowed to send to that provider, and never
delegate secrets.

## Setup

1. Put this skill folder wherever your agent loads skills from (e.g. `~/.claude/skills/hivemind`).
2. Export `HIVEMIND_HOME` pointing at that folder — the bundled slash commands use it:
   ```
   export HIVEMIND_HOME="$HOME/.claude/skills/hivemind"
   ```
3. Copy the bundled assets into place:
   - `assets/commands/*.md` -> `~/.claude/commands/` (the `/hive`, `/oc`, `/swarm`, ... entry points)
   - `assets/agents/*.md` -> `~/.config/opencode/agent/` (the scout / coder / tester worker personas)

Both copies are optional: everything the commands do can be driven by invoking
`scripts/oc-worker.mjs` directly, and any opencode agent name works with `--agent`.

Runtime state (`.runs/*.jsonl`) is written inside this folder and is gitignored.

## Components

| Path (relative to this skill dir) | Purpose |
|---|---|
| `scripts/oc-worker.mjs` | ONLY sanctioned way to invoke a worker. Hardened join point. |
| `scripts/oc-status.mjs` | Fleet progress from run logs (`oc-status.mjs <run-id>`) |
| `scripts/oc-aggregate.mjs` | Dedupe/synthesize N worker outputs; consensus findings first |

The third-party file has ended. Everything between the 5263668f027cbbb1 tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
