## What it does

The skill lays out chart structure: `Chart.yaml`, `values.yaml`, `templates/` and `charts/`, plus `.helmignore`. It ships templates for Deployment, Ingress, ConfigMap and Secret, and helper definitions in `_helpers.tpl` for names and labels. Conditional resources are gated with `{{- if .Values.ingress.enabled -}}`, and dependencies go into `Chart.yaml` with a condition such as `postgresql.enabled`.

Commands get their own section. `helm install`, `helm upgrade`, `helm rollback` and `helm uninstall` come with flag examples: `-f custom-values.yaml`, `--set replicaCount=3`, `-n production --create-namespace`. Chart development covers `helm create`, `helm lint`, `helm template` and `helm package`. Repositories are added with `helm repo add` and refreshed with `helm repo update`.

You need Helm 3.x and a configured `kubectl` with cluster access. No cluster access means install and rollback commands fail, leaving only local template rendering. The source cuts off inside the hooks section, so for `helm.sh/hook-delete-policy` and the rest of the lifecycle annotations, check the Helm docs.

## Requirements
- Works with: Kubernetes

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill helm-charts -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/helm-charts/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/helm-charts/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill helm-charts -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/helm-charts/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill helm-charts -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/helm-charts/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills helm-charts
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/helm-charts/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill helm-charts -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --path devops/orchestration/helm-charts
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/helm-charts/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill helm-charts -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills/tree/HEAD/devops/orchestration/helm-charts/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- scaffold a chart with Deployment, Service and Ingress templates
- move settings into values.yaml and override them at install time
- install a release into its own namespace and create that namespace
- roll a release back to an earlier revision
- pull a third-party chart from a repo and inspect its values

## Example prompts
- create a chart called mychart with deployment and service templates
- show me how to override replicaCount and image.tag on helm install
- help me roll back the myapp release to revision 1

# Helm Charts

Package and deploy Kubernetes applications using Helm, the package manager for Kubernetes.

## When to Use This Skill

Use this skill when:
- Creating reusable Kubernetes application packages
- Deploying applications with configurable values
- Managing Helm releases and upgrades
- Using third-party Helm charts
- Implementing chart versioning and repositories

## Prerequisites

- Helm 3.x installed
- kubectl configured with cluster access
- Basic Kubernetes knowledge
