# heap-exploitation

A playbook for ptmalloc2 heap exploitation: UAF, double free, overflow, plus tcache, fastbin and unsortedbin attacks. Useful for CTF work and glibc bug triage.

## What it does

The skill hands the agent a reference on ptmalloc2 internals: the `malloc_chunk` layout, a bin table with size ranges and LIFO/FIFO order, and where `main_arena`, `mp_` and `tcache_perthread_struct` live. A separate section covers libc and heap address leaks, including safe-linking decode via XOR with the chunk address shifted right by 12.

Attack selection is split by glibc version. Below 2.26 you get fastbin dup, unsortedbin attack, unlink and House of Force. In 2.26–2.28 tcache arrives with no key check; 2.29–2.31 adds the key, bypassed with House of Botcake or tcache stashing unlink. From 2.32 PROTECT_PTR is on, so forging pointers needs a heap leak first. From 2.34 `__malloc_hook`, `__free_hook` and `__realloc_hook` are gone, and the skill points to `_IO_FILE`, `exit_funcs` and `TLS_dtor_list` instead.

It also maps common bugs to exploitation paths: use-after-free, double free, chunk overflow, off-by-one and off-by-null clearing PREV_INUSE. For debugging it lists pwndbg commands — `heap`, `bins`, `tcachebins`, `fastbins`, `unsortedbin`. When the overflow sits on the stack rather than the heap, the skill routes you to `stack-overflow-and-rop`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill heap-exploitation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/heap-exploitation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/heap-exploitation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill heap-exploitation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/heap-exploitation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill heap-exploitation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/heap-exploitation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install yaklang/hack-skills heap-exploitation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/heap-exploitation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill heap-exploitation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/yaklang/hack-skills --path skills/heap-exploitation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/heap-exploitation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill heap-exploitation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/yaklang/hack-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/heap-exploitation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- pick the right attack for a given glibc version
- leak a libc address through unsortedbin
- bypass safe-linking when forging a tcache fd
- turn a double free into allocation at a chosen address
- find a write target on glibc 2.34 and newer

## Example prompts
- analyze this binary, find the UAF and propose a heap exploitation chain
- which tcache attack works on glibc 2.31?
- compute the safe-linked fd value given the chunk address

# SKILL: Heap Exploitation — Expert Attack Playbook

> **AI LOAD INSTRUCTION**: Expert glibc heap exploitation techniques. Covers ptmalloc2 internals, bin structures, tcache mechanics, libc/heap leak methods, and attack selection by glibc version. Distilled from ctf-wiki heap sections, how2heap, and real-world exploitation. Base models often confuse glibc version constraints and miss safe-linking (PROTECT_PTR) introduced in 2.32.
