Integrates GSAP animations into Remotion video projects. It brings timeline orchestration, SplitText reveals, and custom easing curves into React-based video rendering.

## What it does

This skill connects GSAP to Remotion. The core integration relies on `useGSAPTimeline`, which keeps an internal timeline paused and syncs it with `tl.seek(frame / fps)`. It also includes patterns for SplitText masking and CustomEase curves.

Keep simple fades in native `interpolate()`. GSAP handles layered timelines with relative offsets like `"-=0.5"` and text splitting. For typography reveals, a specialized hook delays video rendering until `document.fonts.ready` resolves.

ScrambleText breaks render determinism by default. The plugin chooses random characters at runtime. Render using `--concurrency=1` to keep frames reproducible across export threads.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add notedit/happy-skills --skill gsap-animation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/gsap-animation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/gsap-animation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add notedit/happy-skills --skill gsap-animation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/gsap-animation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add notedit/happy-skills --skill gsap-animation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/gsap-animation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install notedit/happy-skills gsap-animation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/gsap-animation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add notedit/happy-skills --skill gsap-animation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/notedit/happy-skills --path skills/video/gsap-animation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/gsap-animation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add notedit/happy-skills --skill gsap-animation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/notedit/happy-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/video/gsap-animation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- sync a GSAP timeline with Remotion frame progression
- split and reveal text lines with SplitText masks
- pause composition rendering until web fonts load
- orchestrate SVG shape morphing with MorphSVGPlugin

## Example prompts
- Build a title card in Remotion using SplitText and `useGSAPTimeline` to reveal words
- Show how to delay Remotion rendering until fonts are ready for text splitting
- Write a ScrambleText animation and include the command to render it with `--concurrency=1`

## When to use

Use this skill when creating Remotion video compositions that need **GSAP's advanced animation capabilities** beyond Remotion's built-in `interpolate()` and `spring()`.

**Use GSAP when you need:**
- Complex timeline orchestration (nesting, labels, position parameters like `"-=0.5"`)
- Text splitting animation (SplitText: chars/words/lines with mask reveals)
- SVG shape morphing (MorphSVG), stroke drawing (DrawSVG), path-following (MotionPath)
- Advanced easing (CustomEase from SVG paths, RoughEase, SlowMo, CustomBounce, CustomWiggle)
- Stagger with grid, center/edges distribution
- Character scramble/decode effects (ScrambleText)
- Reusable named effects via `gsap.registerEffect()`

**Use Remotion native `interpolate()` when:**
- Simple single-property animations (fade, slide, scale) -- do NOT use GSAP for these
- Numeric counters/progress bars -- pure math, no timeline needed
- Standard easing curves
- Spring physics (`spring()`)

**GSAP Licensing:** All plugins are **100% free** since Webflow's 2024 acquisition (SplitText, MorphSVG, DrawSVG, etc.).

## Setup

```bash
# In a Remotion project
npm install gsap
```

```tsx
// src/gsap-setup.ts -- import once at entry point
import gsap from 'gsap';
import { SplitText } from 'gsap/SplitText';
import { MorphSVGPlugin } from 'gsap/MorphSVGPlugin';
import { DrawSVGPlugin } from 'gsap/DrawSVGPlugin';
import { MotionPathPlugin } from 'gsap/MotionPathPlugin';
import { ScrambleTextPlugin } from 'gsap/ScrambleTextPlugin';
import { CustomEase } from 'gsap/CustomEase';
import { CustomBounce } from 'gsap/CustomBounce';
import { CustomWiggle } from 'gsap/CustomWiggle';
gsap.registerPlugin(
  SplitText, MorphSVGPlugin, DrawSVGPlugin, MotionPathPlugin,
  ScrambleTextPlugin, CustomEase, CustomBounce, CustomWiggle,
);
export { gsap };
```

## Core Hook: useGSAPTimeline

The bridge between GSAP and Remotion. Creates a paused timeline, seeks it to `frame / fps` every frame.

```tsx
import { useCurrentFrame, useVideoConfig } from 'remotion';
import gsap from 'gsap';
import { useRef, useEffect } from 'react';
function useGSAPTimeline(
  buildTimeline: (tl: gsap.core.Timeline, container: HTMLDivElement) => void
) {
  const frame = useCurrentFrame();
  const { fps } = useVideoConfig();
  const containerRef = useRef<HTMLDivElement>(null);
  const tlRef = useRef<gsap.core.Timeline | null>(null);
  useEffect(() => {
    if (!containerRef.current) return;
    const ctx = gsap.context(() => {
      const tl = gsap.timeline({ paused: true });
      buildTimeline(tl, containerRef.current!);
      tlRef.current = tl;
    }, containerRef);
    return () => { ctx.revert(); tlRef.current = null; };
  }, []);
  useEffect(() => {
