The file number advances for that date, and the report records commits made since midnight, the current short status, and a summary of changed files. It gathers the details with `git log --since=midnight --oneline`, `git status --short`, and `git diff --stat HEAD`. The document layout comes from `skills/groove-utilities-memory-log-git/templates/git.md`. A report is still written when the repository has had no Git changes since midnight. Existing files in `.groove/memory/git/` must be listed before writing. Otherwise the next `N` can collide with a report already created for the same date.
