## What it does

This skill walks through Groove’s configuration keys and asks the user to confirm or change each value. It covers the task backend, list limits, the memory review period, the Groovebook repository, and Git handling for memory, tasks, and hooks. Task storage can use `beans`, `linear`, `github`, or `none`.

Once the values are confirmed, it writes `.groove/index.md` with the Groove version and replaces `.groove/.gitignore`. The generated ignore rules reflect the selected Git strategies, while the cache entries remain local. If the root `.gitignore` hides `.groove/`, the skill reports that commit-all settings require a manual change.

Run this before `/groove-admin-install`, since the configuration step prepares the project for backend installation. Passing `--defaults` skips the questions and applies the listed defaults.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add andreadellacorte/groove --skill groove-admin-config -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/groove-admin-config/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/groove-admin-config/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add andreadellacorte/groove --skill groove-admin-config -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/groove-admin-config/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add andreadellacorte/groove --skill groove-admin-config -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/groove-admin-config/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install andreadellacorte/groove groove-admin-config
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/groove-admin-config/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add andreadellacorte/groove --skill groove-admin-config -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/andreadellacorte/groove --path skills/groove-admin-config
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/groove-admin-config/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add andreadellacorte/groove --skill groove-admin-config -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/andreadellacorte/groove/tree/HEAD/skills/groove-admin-config/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- create the `.groove/index.md` configuration
- review and change Groove settings interactively
- choose a task backend and list limits
- set Git handling for memory, tasks, and hooks
- configure the Groovebook repository

## Example prompts
- Set up Groove interactively and create `.groove/index.md`.
- Review the current Groove values, confirm them, and regenerate `.groove/.gitignore`.
- Use `--defaults`, write the configuration, and prepare the project for `/groove-admin-install`.

# groove-admin-config

## Outcome

`.groove/index.md` is created or updated with values confirmed by the user. The git strategy is applied immediately. User is ready to run `/groove-admin-install`.

## Acceptance Criteria

- `.groove/index.md` exists with all config keys populated
- Each key was either confirmed by the user or accepted as default
- Git strategy is applied (`.groove/.gitignore` written) before exiting
- User is shown a summary of the final config and told to run `/groove-admin-install`

## Steps

If `--defaults` is passed: skip all prompts, apply all defaults, and proceed directly to writing the config (step 1 of "After all keys are confirmed"). Report the defaults being applied.

Otherwise, walk the user through each config key in order. For each key: show the current value (or default if new), explain what it does, and ask to confirm or change.

### Keys and defaults

| Key | Default | Options | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|---|
| `tasks.storage` | `beans` | `beans \| linear \| github \| none` | "Which task backend? beans tracks tasks as markdown files in your repo." |
| `tasks.list_limit` | `15` | positive integer | "Max tasks shown by task-list? (default: 15)" |
| `tasks.analyse_limit` | `30` | positive integer | "Max tasks shown by task-analyse? (default: 30)" |
| `memory.review_days` | `5` | positive integer | "How many recent business days to review at daily start? (default: 5)" |
| `git.memory` | `ignore-all` | `ignore-all \| hybrid \| commit-all` | "Git strategy for memory logs? ignore-all keeps them local, hybrid commits logs but ignores sessions, commit-all commits everything." |
| `git.tasks` | `ignore-all` | `ignore-all \| commit-all` | "Git strategy for task files (.groove/tasks/)? ignore-all keeps them local, commit-all tracks them in git." |
| `git.hooks` | `commit-all` | `ignore-all \| commit-all` | "Git strategy for hooks (.groove/hooks/)? commit-all shares hooks with the team, ignore-all keeps them local." |
| `groovebook` | `andreadellacorte/groovebook` | `<owner>/<repo>` or blank | "Groovebook repo for sharing learnings? Default: andreadellacorte/groovebook. Leave blank to disable." |

After all keys are confirmed:

1. Write `.groove/index.md` with confirmed values and `groove-version: <installed version>`
2. Apply git strategy — write `.groove/.gitignore` (see constraints)
3. Show summary of written config
