## What it does

The skill turns questions about traffic and user behaviour into `runReport` calls. It ships ready `curl` templates for five report types: traffic overview, user acquisition, top pages, engagement and conversions. Every report is a POST with a JSON body holding `dateRanges`, `metrics`, `dimensions` and ordering.

You need Google OAuth credentials first: `GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID`, `GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET` and a valid access token. Put them in `.env`, `.env.local` or `~/.claude/.env.global`. The access token expires after an hour, so you refresh it with a `refresh_token` — keep that refresh token somewhere safe. To find your GA4 property ID, query `accountSummaries`; the format is `properties/XXXXXXXXX`.

Date ranges use shortcuts like `30daysAgo` and `today`, and passing two `dateRanges` in one request compares periods. Conversion reports filter on `eventName` with `inListFilter`. No OAuth setup means no API calls at all, so check that before you install.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill google-analytics -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/google-analytics/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/google-analytics/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill google-analytics -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/google-analytics/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill google-analytics -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/google-analytics/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills google-analytics
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/google-analytics/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill google-analytics -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --path skills/google-analytics
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/google-analytics/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills --skill google-analytics -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/google-analytics/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- check sessions, users and page views for a date range
- break traffic down by channel and UTM campaign
- find the pages with the most views
- judge engagement and pages per session across sections
- report on purchase and signup events

## Example prompts
- Pull a GA4 traffic report for the last 30 days
- Break sessions down by acquisition channel and campaign
- Which pages got the most views this month?

# Google Analytics (GA4)

Pull reports and insights from GA4 using the Google Analytics Data API.

## Prerequisites

Requires Google OAuth credentials:
- `GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID`
- `GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET`
- A valid OAuth access token (refreshed as needed)

Set credentials in `.env`, `.env.local`, or `~/.claude/.env.global`.

### Getting an Access Token

```bash
# Step 1: Get authorization code (user must visit this URL in browser)
echo "https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/v2/auth?client_id=${GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID}&redirect_uri=urn:ietf:wg:oauth:2.0:oob&scope=https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics.readonly&response_type=code&access_type=offline"
# Step 2: Exchange code for tokens
curl -s -X POST "https://oauth2.googleapis.com/token" \
  -d "code={AUTH_CODE}" \
  -d "client_id=${GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID}" \
  -d "client_secret=${GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET}" \
  -d "redirect_uri=urn:ietf:wg:oauth:2.0:oob" \
  -d "grant_type=authorization_code"
# Step 3: Refresh an expired token
curl -s -X POST "https://oauth2.googleapis.com/token" \
  -d "refresh_token={REFRESH_TOKEN}" \
  -d "client_id=${GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID}" \
  -d "client_secret=${GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET}" \
  -d "grant_type=refresh_token"
```

Store the refresh token securely. The access token expires after 1 hour.

### Finding Your GA4 Property ID

```bash
curl -s -H "Authorization: Bearer ${GA_ACCESS_TOKEN}" \
  "https://analyticsadmin.googleapis.com/v1beta/accountSummaries" \
  | python3 -c "
import json, sys
data = json.load(sys.stdin)
for acct in data.get('accountSummaries', []):
    for prop in acct.get('propertySummaries', []):
        print(f\"{prop['property']}  |  {prop.get('displayName','')}  |  Account: {acct.get('displayName','')}\")
"
```

The property ID format is `properties/XXXXXXXXX`.

---

## API Base

```
POST https://analyticsdata.googleapis.com/v1beta/{property_id}:runReport
```

All report requests use POST with a JSON body. Always include `Authorization: Bearer {ACCESS_TOKEN}`.

---

## 1. Traffic Overview Report

Get sessions, users, page views, and engagement rate over a date range.

### Example curl

```bash
curl -s -X POST \
  "https://analyticsdata.googleapis.com/v1beta/properties/{PROPERTY_ID}:runReport" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer ${GA_ACCESS_TOKEN}" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
