# godot-master

A Godot 4.7 skill hub: it routes a task to the right domain sections and hands back layer rules plus performance budgets. Useful at project start and when something drags.

## What it does

godot-master is the entry point for Godot 4.7 work in an agent. It carries 92 domain skills and loads them through a decision matrix: a prototype pulls foundations and autoloads, a component-driven RPG pulls composition, states and stats, a server-authoritative multiplayer build pulls server architecture and networking. The other sections stay unread, so the context stays lean.

The backbone is four layers. Data lives in `Resource`, logic in state machines, UI and VFX in presentation, shared services in autoloads. Signals travel up, calls go down. A “who owns this state” check catches coupling early — if a `Label` writes the player's health directly, the design is already broken.

There are anti-pattern catalogs and performance budgets too: `PhysicsServer2D` and `RenderingServer` instead of nodes once object counts climb, bit-packed `PackedByteArray` for network traffic. Engine upgrades are out of scope here; a separate migration skill handles version hops, so do not expect a 4.6 → 4.7 changelog from this one.

## Requirements
- Works with: Godot

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add thedivergentai/Game-Dev-Agentic-Skills --skill godot-master -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/godot-master/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/godot-master/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add thedivergentai/Game-Dev-Agentic-Skills --skill godot-master -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/godot-master/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add thedivergentai/Game-Dev-Agentic-Skills --skill godot-master -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/godot-master/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install thedivergentai/Game-Dev-Agentic-Skills godot-master
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/godot-master/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add thedivergentai/Game-Dev-Agentic-Skills --skill godot-master -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/thedivergentai/Game-Dev-Agentic-Skills --path skills/godot-master
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/godot-master/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add thedivergentai/Game-Dev-Agentic-Skills --skill godot-master -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/thedivergentai/Game-Dev-Agentic-Skills/tree/HEAD/skills/godot-master/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- Lay out game layers so the UI never touches data
- Pick component-driven or event-driven design for a given genre
- Find the physics or draw bottleneck on busy scenes
- Assign state ownership and signals before writing code
- Choose a sync scheme for server-authoritative multiplayer

## Example prompts
- I'm starting a Godot 4.7 project — sketch the layer architecture for it
- Physics stalls with a thousand projectiles, walk me through the performance budgets
- Design the systems for a component RPG: stats, states, signals
