## What it does

The skill treats a launch as a campaign rather than a single event. It starts with motion selection — PLG, PLG with sales-assist, sales-led, community-led or partner-led — then moves through positioning, a message hierarchy from headline to CTA, an owned / rented / borrowed channel plan, and a six-week timeline that runs from finalizing messaging to a post-launch review two weeks out.

Five phases cover the general case, and a separate branch handles technical products: APIs, SDKs, infrastructure. That branch defines three launch tiers by scope and timeline, plus developer-first principles such as treating documentation as non-negotiable and showing code instead of marketing copy. There is also a Product Hunt walkthrough and a set of seven deliverables for a major release: context snapshot, launch marketing brief, channel plan, PR outreach kit, asset readiness checklist, measurement plan and a risks list.

Before asking anything, the skill reads workspace context: `strategy/brand.md` for brand, audience and metrics, `about/me.md` for voice, `content/ideas.md` and `content/calendar.md` for content planning. Drafts land in `content/<platform>/drafts/YYYY-MM-DD_short-topic-slug.md`. If those files are missing, you still have to answer the audience and channel questions yourself — otherwise the brief comes out hollow. Templates and intake questions live in `references/TEMPLATES.md`, `references/INTAKE.md` and `references/WORKFLOW.md`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manojbajaj95/claude-gtm-plugin --skill go-to-market-strategy -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/go-to-market-strategy/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/go-to-market-strategy/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manojbajaj95/claude-gtm-plugin --skill go-to-market-strategy -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/go-to-market-strategy/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manojbajaj95/claude-gtm-plugin --skill go-to-market-strategy -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/go-to-market-strategy/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install manojbajaj95/claude-gtm-plugin go-to-market-strategy
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/go-to-market-strategy/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manojbajaj95/claude-gtm-plugin --skill go-to-market-strategy -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/manojbajaj95/claude-gtm-plugin --path skills/go-to-market-strategy
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/go-to-market-strategy/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add manojbajaj95/claude-gtm-plugin --skill go-to-market-strategy -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/manojbajaj95/claude-gtm-plugin/tree/HEAD/skills/go-to-market-strategy/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- pick between PLG and sales-led before writing any landing page copy
- break a launch into six weeks with tasks per week
- produce the seven-document pack for a major release
- plan an API or SDK launch by tier
- prepare press outreach and a Product Hunt push

## Example prompts
- Help me plan our API launch — which tier, and what fits in 8 weeks
- Build a launch marketing pack for the new feature release
- We ship in two weeks, give me a launch readiness checklist

# Go-to-Market Strategy

## Workspace Context

Read bootstrap context before asking questions: `strategy/brand.md` for brand, audience, offer, channels, tools, constraints, and metrics; `about/me.md` for personal voice; `content/ideas.md` and `content/calendar.md` for content planning. Use legacy product-marketing context files only as fallback. Save generated drafts to `content/<platform>/drafts/YYYY-MM-DD_short-topic-slug.md`, and route durable learnings back to `strategy/brand.md`, `about/me.md`, or `content/ideas.md`.

## Operating Contract

This skill is self-contained for its frontmatter scope: use its local instructions, references, scripts, and assets as the playbook; ask only for missing task-specific inputs; hand off to adjacent skills instead of expanding scope; and return an actionable artifact, decision, plan, draft, or diagnostic.

End-to-end GTM playbook: motion selection, positioning, channel strategy, phased launch execution, launch marketing, and technical product launches.

---

## Core Philosophy

**A launch is a campaign, not an event.** Build momentum before launch, peak at launch, sustain after. The best companies don't launch once — they launch again and again.

---

## GTM Motion Selection

| Motion | Best For | Key Lever |
|--------|----------|-----------|
| **PLG** | SMB, developers, low ACV (<$5K) | Free → paid conversion |
| **PLG + Sales-Assist** | Mid-market, $5K-$25K ACV | PQL → SQL routing |
