# git-pushing

Stages your edits, writes a conventional commit and sends the branch upstream. Handy at the point where a feature is done and you want it published.

## What it does

The skill fires when you ask to push, or to save your work to GitHub. Instead of improvising git commands, the agent calls the bundled `smart_commit.sh` and lets it drive.

That script does the staging, picks a conventional-style message and pushes with the `-u` flag. You can hand it your own wording as a second argument — `bash skills/git-pushing/scripts/smart_commit.sh "feat: add feature"`.

Hand-run git commands are deliberately skipped here. Keep stray files out of your working tree: anything uncommitted gets swept in, so clean up or gitignore before you trigger it.

## Requirements
- Works with: GitHub

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill development/git-pushing
```

2. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add davila7/claude-code-templates --skill git-pushing -a claude-code
```

3. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/git-pushing/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/git-pushing/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/git-pushing/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/git-pushing/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install davila7/claude-code-templates git-pushing
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates --path cli-tool/components/skills/development/git-pushing
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/git-pushing/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates/tree/HEAD/cli-tool/components/skills/development/git-pushing
