# ghidra

Runs headless Ghidra analysis to decompile executables into C and export strings, symbols, or call graphs. Helpful when reverse engineering firmware or binaries directly from the terminal.

## What it does

The skill wraps Ghidra's `analyzeHeadless` utility using the `ghidra-analyze.sh` script. It handles project creation automatically. The agent imports binaries and runs post-analysis Java scripts without opening a GUI. Output files include decompiled C pseudocode, JSON function maps, extracted strings, and symbol tables.

The built-in `ExportAll.java` script creates a complete overview along with an `interesting.txt` report that flags suspicious function names. Architecture flags can be passed explicitly via `-p`, such as `ARM:LE:32:v7` for firmware files. For quick inspections, the `--no-analysis` flag skips the heavy analysis passes to dump function lists rapidly.

You need Ghidra and OpenJDK 17+ installed on your machine beforehand, or the wrapper scripts will fail immediately. If the toolkit lives in a non-standard directory, export the `GHIDRA_HOME` environment variable so `find-ghidra.sh` can find it.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mitsuhiko/agent-stuff --skill ghidra -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ghidra/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ghidra/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mitsuhiko/agent-stuff --skill ghidra -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ghidra/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mitsuhiko/agent-stuff --skill ghidra -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ghidra/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mitsuhiko/agent-stuff ghidra
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/ghidra/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mitsuhiko/agent-stuff --skill ghidra -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mitsuhiko/agent-stuff --path skills/ghidra
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/ghidra/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mitsuhiko/agent-stuff --skill ghidra -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/mitsuhiko/agent-stuff/tree/HEAD/skills/ghidra/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- decompile binaries into C pseudocode without launching a GUI
- export string tables, symbols, and function lists into structured JSON
- inspect firmware binaries across architectures like ARM or MIPS
- identify dangerous function calls using predefined pattern checks

## Example prompts
- Decompile unknown_binary to C using ghidra-analyze.sh and ExportAll.java
- Analyze firmware.bin for ARM:LE:32:v7 and write the results to ./firmware_analysis
- Export functions from program.exe to JSON without running auto-analysis

# Ghidra Headless Analysis Skill

Perform automated reverse engineering using Ghidra's `analyzeHeadless` tool. Import binaries, run analysis, decompile to C code, and extract useful information.

## Quick Reference

| Task | Command |
|------|---------|
| Full analysis with all exports | `ghidra-analyze.sh -s ExportAll.java -o ./output binary` |
| Decompile to C code | `ghidra-analyze.sh -s ExportDecompiled.java -o ./output binary` |
| List functions | `ghidra-analyze.sh -s ExportFunctions.java -o ./output binary` |
| Extract strings | `ghidra-analyze.sh -s ExportStrings.java -o ./output binary` |
| Get call graph | `ghidra-analyze.sh -s ExportCalls.java -o ./output binary` |
| Export symbols | `ghidra-analyze.sh -s ExportSymbols.java -o ./output binary` |
| Find Ghidra path | `find-ghidra.sh` |

## Prerequisites

- **Ghidra** must be installed. On macOS: `brew install --cask ghidra`
- **Java** (OpenJDK 17+) must be available

The skill automatically locates Ghidra in common installation paths. Set `GHIDRA_HOME` environment variable if Ghidra is installed in a non-standard location.

---

## Main Wrapper Script

```bash
./scripts/ghidra-analyze.sh [options] <binary>
```

Wrapper that handles project creation/cleanup and provides a simpler interface to `analyzeHeadless`.

**Options:**
- `-o, --output <dir>` - Output directory for results (default: current dir)
- `-s, --script <name>` - Post-analysis script to run (can be repeated)
- `-a, --script-args <args>` - Arguments for the last specified script
- `--script-path <path>` - Additional script search path
- `-p, --processor <id>` - Processor/architecture (e.g., `x86:LE:32:default`)
- `-c, --cspec <id>` - Compiler spec (e.g., `gcc`, `windows`)
- `--no-analysis` - Skip auto-analysis (faster, but less info)
- `--timeout <seconds>` - Analysis timeout per file
- `--keep-project` - Keep the Ghidra project after analysis
- `--project-dir <dir>` - Directory for Ghidra project (default: /tmp)
- `--project-name <name>` - Project name (default: auto-generated)
- `-v, --verbose` - Verbose output

---

## Built-in Export Scripts

### ExportAll.java
Comprehensive export - runs all other exports and creates a summary. Best for initial analysis.

**Output files:**
- `{name}_summary.txt` - Overview: architecture, memory sections, function counts
- `{name}_decompiled.c` - All functions decompiled to C
- `{name}_functions.json` - Function list with signatures and calls
- `{name}_strings.txt` - All strings found
- `{name}_interesting.txt` - Functions matching security-relevant patterns

```bash
./scripts/ghidra-analyze.sh -s ExportAll.java -o ./analysis firmware.bin
```
