## What it does

The skill wires your agent to Genomic Intelligence's transformer DNA models. Hand it a gene symbol, a genomic region or a FASTA sequence and you get structured predictions back. Inference happens on managed GPUs, so no weights and no heavy Python stack land on your machine.

Six tasks ship as separate operations, each with its own request schema and minimum length: `promoter`, `splice`, `enhancer`, `chromatin`, `expression` and `annotation`. A composite path finds genes in a region and then predicts expression for each one. Two ways in. The hosted MCP server at `https://mcp.genomicintelligence.ai/mcp` runs keyless on a public demo tier with rate and concurrency caps, and it hands back a `sequence_ref` handle so long sequences stay out of your context. The REST route at `https://api.genomicintelligence.ai/v1` wants a `gi_` bearer token in `GI_API_KEY`. Keep that key in an environment variable rather than in code.

REST examples need Python 3.10+ with `requests` and network access. The `expression` task takes 9,198 to 500,000 bp, and without a `tss_index` it only accepts a sequence of exactly 9,198 bp; it also needs a cell-type `description`. `annotation` is asynchronous — submit, then poll; a synchronous JSON payload above 200,000 bp comes back as `413 sync_too_large`. A `429` means you hit your tier's cap, so back off and retry. The service is labelled for research and development, not for clinical or diagnostic use.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add K-Dense-AI/scientific-agent-skills --skill genomic-intelligence -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/genomic-intelligence/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/genomic-intelligence/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add K-Dense-AI/scientific-agent-skills --skill genomic-intelligence -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/genomic-intelligence/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add K-Dense-AI/scientific-agent-skills --skill genomic-intelligence -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/genomic-intelligence/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install K-Dense-AI/scientific-agent-skills genomic-intelligence
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/genomic-intelligence/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add K-Dense-AI/scientific-agent-skills --skill genomic-intelligence -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/K-Dense-AI/scientific-agent-skills --path skills/genomic-intelligence
### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)
**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/genomic-intelligence/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works
### OpenCode
**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add K-Dense-AI/scientific-agent-skills --skill genomic-intelligence -a opencode
```
### Claude.ai
**Claude.ai**
## When to use it
- locate promoter regions inside a genomic region
- call splice donor and acceptor sites in transcript orientation
- score enhancer activity from sequence
- annotate chromatin state across hundreds of tracks
- predict expression as log(TPM+1) for a given cell type
## Example prompts
- Find the promoters in this region and list their coordinates
- Predict splice sites for the sequence in `seq.fa`, using transcript orientation
- Find the genes in this region, then predict expression for each of them
Six tasks over a REST API and a hosted MCP server (keyless public demo): promoter regions, splice donor/acceptor sites, enhancer activity, chromatin state, sequence-to-expression (log TPM), and de-novo gene annotation, plus a composite find-genes-then-predict-expression workflow. Use when the user has a gene symbol, a genomic region, or a DNA/FASTA sequence and wants any of these predictions, mentions Genomic Intelligence, genomicintelligence.ai, api.genomicintelligence.ai, or mcp.genomicintelligence.ai."
compatibility: Python 3.10+ with the `requests` library for the REST examples. Network access required. The REST `/v1` API needs a `GI_API_KEY` (a `gi_` bearer); the hosted MCP server at mcp.genomicintelligence.ai/mcp works keyless against a rate- and concurrency-limited public demo tier, key optional.
