## What it does

The skill provides reference `gcloud` commands and Terraform snippets for Google Cloud networking. It covers custom VPC setup with secondary ranges for GKE, proxy-only subnets for regional L7 load balancers, and VPC Flow Logs.

It also supplies blueprints for internal and external load balancers, Cloud Armor WAF rate-limiting, and Shared VPC multi-project setups. You need `roles/compute.networkAdmin` IAM permissions before running any of this. Without that role, your deployment halts immediately.

Prerequisites include an authenticated Google Cloud SDK installation and enabled Compute Engine and Service Networking APIs.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill gcp-networking -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/gcp-networking/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/gcp-networking/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill gcp-networking -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/gcp-networking/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill gcp-networking -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/gcp-networking/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills gcp-networking
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/gcp-networking/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill gcp-networking -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --path infrastructure/cloud-gcp/gcp-networking
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/gcp-networking/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill gcp-networking -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- create custom VPC networks and subnets with Private Google Access
- configure firewall rules for IAP SSH access and load balancer health checks
- set up Cloud NAT with static egress IP addresses for private instances
- define Cloud Armor security policies with rate-based banning
- connect projects via Shared VPC and Private Service Connect

## Example prompts
- Create a custom VPC prod-vpc with subnets in us-central1 and europe-west1
- Generate firewall rules for IAP SSH access and load balancer health checks
- Set up Cloud NAT on prod-router using static external IP addresses

# GCP Networking

Design, implement, and secure network infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform.

## When to Use

- Building VPC networks for new GCP projects or multi-project architectures
- Configuring firewall rules to control traffic between services
- Setting up Cloud NAT for outbound internet access from private instances
- Deploying load balancers for HTTP(S), TCP/UDP, or internal traffic
- Implementing Private Service Connect or Shared VPC

## Prerequisites

- Google Cloud SDK (`gcloud`) installed and authenticated
- Compute Engine API enabled
- IAM role `roles/compute.networkAdmin` for network management

```bash
gcloud services enable compute.googleapis.com servicenetworking.googleapis.com
```

## VPC Network Creation

```bash
gcloud compute networks create prod-vpc \
  --subnet-mode=custom --bgp-routing-mode=regional --mtu=1460
gcloud compute networks subnets create us-subnet \
  --network=prod-vpc --region=us-central1 --range=10.0.0.0/20 \
  --enable-private-ip-google-access --enable-flow-logs \
  --logging-flow-sampling=0.5
gcloud compute networks subnets create eu-subnet \
  --network=prod-vpc --region=europe-west1 --range=10.1.0.0/20 \
  --enable-private-ip-google-access --enable-flow-logs
# Subnet with secondary ranges for GKE
gcloud compute networks subnets create gke-subnet \
  --enable-private-ip-google-access
# Proxy-only subnet (required for regional L7 LBs)
gcloud compute networks subnets create proxy-only-subnet \
  --network=prod-vpc --region=us-central1 --range=10.129.0.0/23 \
  --purpose=REGIONAL_MANAGED_PROXY --role=ACTIVE
```

## Firewall Rules

```bash
gcloud compute firewall-rules create allow-http-https \
  --network=prod-vpc --allow=tcp:80,tcp:443 \
