## What it does

The skill handles funding flows for Circle agent wallets via the `circle` CLI. Payments are gas-abstracted, meaning users do not need to hold ETH to cover network fees. Balances split into two pools: on-chain USDC for direct settlements and off-chain Gateway deposits for batched nanopayments.

Non-interactive agent runs require explicit parameters. Every invocation of `circle wallet fund` must supply `--address`, `--chain`, `--method`, and `--amount`. If `circle wallet status` fails due to an unauthenticated session, the workflow hands off to the `use-agent-wallet` prerequisite skill.

Terminal QR codes often truncate inside agent interfaces like Claude Code. Because of this, the skill uses the `--open` flag to launch an EIP-681 QR code in the default browser. For Gateway deposits, the eco method routes transfers from BASE into Arc, while direct mode stays on the selected chain.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill fund-agent-wallet -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/fund-agent-wallet/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/fund-agent-wallet/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill fund-agent-wallet -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/fund-agent-wallet/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill fund-agent-wallet -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/fund-agent-wallet/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install circlefin/skills fund-agent-wallet
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/fund-agent-wallet/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill fund-agent-wallet -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/circlefin/skills --path plugins/circle/skills/fund-agent-wallet
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/fund-agent-wallet/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill fund-agent-wallet -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- fund an agent wallet with USDC without holding native gas tokens
- purchase USDC with a credit card via the integrated fiat on-ramp
- render an unscannable terminal QR code cleanly in the default browser
- deposit USDC into the Gateway balance for low-latency nanopayments

## Example prompts
- Fund my agent wallet using the fiat on-ramp
- Transfer existing USDC to my agent wallet on Arc
- Deposit USDC into Gateway using the eco method

description: "Fund a Circle agent wallet with USDC via the `circle` CLI. payments are gas-abstracted. users can pay with USDC only, no ETH required. Covers two top-level paths — fiat on-ramp (buy USDC with USD/credit card) and crypto transfer (send existing USDC to the wallet via QR or direct address). Also covers Gateway deposits (eco vs direct sub-paths) for the Nanopayments balance used by paid services. Use when the user wants to add USDC to their agent wallet, top up after a low balance, deposit into Gateway, or pick the right funding method. Triggers on: fund agent wallet, add USDC, fiat on-ramp, Gateway deposit, eco deposit, direct deposit, top up wallet, withdraw USDC, nanopayments."

## Overview

For an overview of the Circle CLI's **full** capability set — bridging, smart contract execution, x402 payment, and more — see the `use-circle-cli` master skill. This skill is the narrower funding flow.

Funding an agent wallet means putting USDC where the CLI can spend it. There are **two balance pools** to be aware of:

- **On-chain (vanilla x402)** — USDC sitting at the wallet address on a specific chain. Each chain is separate. Used to pay endpoints whose `accepts[]` does not include `GatewayWalletBatched`. Settles in one block.
- **Nanopayments (powered by Gateway)** — USDC held off-chain in your Circle Gateway balance, batched and settled for you across supported chains. Per source chain — no cross-chain pooling at payment time. Used to pay endpoints whose `accepts[]` includes `GatewayWalletBatched`. Settles in <500ms once the balance exists.

### Gas note
**Agent wallet payment flows are gas-abstracted** — users can pay with USDC without pre-funding native gas.

This skill covers funding both pools. Pick the path with the shortest time-to-result and hide chain complexity from the user.

## Prerequisites

```bash
# Confirm session is good
circle wallet status
# Get the wallet address
circle wallet list --chain ARC --type agent --output json
# Check current on-chain balance (per chain)
circle wallet balance --address <addr> --chain ARC --output json
# Check current Gateway balance (per chain)
circle gateway balance --address <addr> --chain ARC --output json
```
