Runs repo probes and drafts a 1–5 score for each of ten design quality questions, then lets you confirm or override every one.

## What it does

This skill is step three of the Flows app certification flow, sitting between `flows-code-review` and `flows-external-app-submit`. It starts by reading `App-Brief.md`, `package.json` and the latest code review report without asking anything. Then it greps `src/**/*.{ts,tsx,css}` for hard-coded hex or rgb colors, raw `px` and `rem` values outside Aura tokens, `onClick` handlers on elements lacking `role` or `tabIndex`, icon buttons with no `aria-label`, and `<img>` tags without `alt`. What it finds is shown as evidence, not as a verdict.

For each question Q1–Q10 the agent runs grep, lint and build probes, proposes a draft score, and shows which probe results produced it. `AskQuestion` then offers three choices: accept the draft, set your own score, or set your own with a note. The target average is 3.8 or higher.

One part stays manual. You open the running app as the intended user in a clean browser session, complete every task end to end, and record where you got stuck or made mistakes. Until you confirm that walkthrough, scoring does not begin — the skill writes a stub noting the walkthrough was skipped. The final report lands in `reviews/design-review/feedback-round-<N>/design-review-report.md` with an overall average and prioritized fix lists.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cognitedata/builder-skills --skill flows-design-review -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/flows-design-review/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/flows-design-review/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cognitedata/builder-skills --skill flows-design-review -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/flows-design-review/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cognitedata/builder-skills --skill flows-design-review -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/flows-design-review/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install cognitedata/builder-skills flows-design-review
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/flows-design-review/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cognitedata/builder-skills --skill flows-design-review -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/cognitedata/builder-skills --path skills/flows-design-review
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/flows-design-review/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cognitedata/builder-skills --skill flows-design-review -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/cognitedata/builder-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/flows-design-review/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- get draft design scores before the manual pass
- spot hard-coded colors and sizes outside Aura tokens
- catch icon buttons without `aria-label` and images without `alt`
- produce a prioritized fix list before app submission
- record the user task walkthrough in a structured form

## Example prompts
- Run a design review of this Flows app against the ten quality questions
- Score the design and propose draft ratings, I'll confirm each one
- Write the design review report with a prioritized fix list

  Semi-automated design quality review for Flows apps. Runs concrete repo
  probes (grep, lint, build) to propose a draft 1–5 score for each of the
  official 10 quality-guidelines questions from
  docs.cognite.com/cdf/flows/guides/quality-guidelines, then asks the user to

# Flows Design Review

This is **step 3** of the Flows app certification flow:

```
flows-app-brief  →  build  →  flows-code-review  →  flows-design-review (this skill)  →  flows-external-app-submit
```

This is the **manual design quality assessment** described in
[docs.cognite.com/cdf/flows/guides/quality-guidelines](https://docs.cognite.com/cdf/flows/guides/quality-guidelines).
Target overall average: **3.8 or higher** to be launch-ready.

## Operating rules

- **Automate first, ask second.** For every question Q1–Q10, run the probes listed below to gather hard evidence from the repo and **propose a draft score (1–5) with rationale** *before* asking the user. The user's job is to confirm or override the proposed score, not to grade from scratch. This dramatically reduces the manual burden.
- The **task walkthrough (Step 2)** is the one part that cannot be skipped — automation cannot tell whether a user "gets lost" navigating a screen. Capture it manually and use it to override the auto-derived scores where lived experience disagrees.
- Use `AskQuestion` for every score so answers are structured. For each question present three options: *(a) accept the draft score*, *(b) override with a specific score*, *(c) override + add a note*.
- Pre-fill user, tasks, and persona context from `App-Brief.md` frontmatter when present.
