# fleet-core

fleet-core provides shared rules for clausona skills that coordinate worker sessions. It supports those skills rather than handling a task on its own.

## What it does

The skill explains how to identify the main Claude Code or Codex session, choose worker profiles, and account for subscription limits. It reads settings from `~/.clausona/fleet.json`, falling back to `~/.clausona/superset-fleet.json` when the first file is absent.

It also covers worker permissions, launching workers with `clausona run`, and shell-specific behavior. One section addresses Codex sessions where environment settings hide variables such as `CODEX_HOME`. fleet-core is not directly invocable; a related runner skill loads it when needed.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add larcane97/clausona --skill fleet-core -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/fleet-core/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/fleet-core/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add larcane97/clausona --skill fleet-core -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/fleet-core/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add larcane97/clausona --skill fleet-core -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/fleet-core/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install larcane97/clausona fleet-core
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/fleet-core/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add larcane97/clausona --skill fleet-core -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/larcane97/clausona --path plugins/fleet-core/skills/fleet-core
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/fleet-core/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add larcane97/clausona --skill fleet-core -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/larcane97/clausona/tree/HEAD/plugins/fleet-core/skills/fleet-core/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- select a profile for each worker session
- avoid profiles that have reached subscription limits
- set routing rules for work across profiles
- troubleshoot environment variables hidden from Codex

## Example prompts
- Use the related runner skill and apply fleet-core rules to these worker sessions.
- Check profiles and subscription limits before launching workers with `clausona run`.
- Diagnose why Codex cannot read `CODEX_HOME` and explain which shell setting to inspect.

# Fleet rules shared by every runner

A fleet is one main session (Claude Code or Codex) that splits work into tasks and runs each task as
a worker: a separate Claude Code or Codex session in its own git worktree, on a clausona profile. A
profile is one account or one API endpoint, with its own sign-in and limits. Profiles of one tool
share plugins and settings. `csn` is short for `clausona`.

The runner skill that loaded this one (Superset, herdr, Orca or tmux) says how to create worktrees,
start workers, read them and remove them. This skill says everything else.

**Shells.** Commands here are written for a POSIX shell. Claude Code runs them in Bash, on Windows
too (Git Bash). Codex on Windows runs PowerShell: there, read `"$(cat <file>)"` as
`(Get-Content -Raw <file>)`, `$(command -v clausona)` as `(Get-Command clausona).Source`, and
`<cmd> </dev/null` as `$null | <cmd>`. `~` is your home
directory: `%USERPROFILE%` on Windows. The shell can be zsh, which does not split an unquoted
variable into words: loop over paths written out one by one, not over a variable holding several.

**Hidden variables in Codex.** A Codex config can pass your commands only a few environment
variables: `[shell_environment_policy]` with `inherit = "core"` or `"none"`, usually in
`~/.codex/config.toml`. Then `CODEX_HOME`, and the variables a runner sets in its terminals such
as herdr's `HERDR_*`, look unset even when they are set. When one you need is unset in Codex, look
for that setting. If it is there, tell the user: the fix is to start this Codex session again with
`-c shell_environment_policy.inherit=all` added to its command, which changes that session only.

## 1. Profiles and the main session

`clausona list --json` lists the profiles.

- Every profile has `name`, `tool` (`claude` or `codex`) and `configDir`.
- A subscription profile has `quota.state`, `quota.session.usedPercent` (5H) and
  `quota.weekly.usedPercent` (7D). It can also have `quota.scoped`: the most used window of a
  limit on one model, named in its `label`. Claude's are weekly; a Codex one can be its 5-hour
  window, and `windowSeconds` says which.
- An API profile has `kind: "api"` and `model` instead. These exist for Claude Code only.

The **main tool** is the tool you run in: `claude` in Claude Code, `codex` in Codex. The **main
profile** is the one whose `configDir` equals `$CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR` (or `~/.claude` when it is unset)
in Claude Code, or `$CODEX_HOME` (or `~/.codex`) in Codex. It coordinates and is never a worker.
(`isActive` in the list is something else: the profile `clausona use` picked.) If Codex hides
`CODEX_HOME` (Shells), you cannot tell which profile you run on: ask the user, unless they said.

## 2. Settings

Read `~/.clausona/fleet.json`. If it does not exist, read `~/.clausona/superset-fleet.json`, its
older name. The keys:

- `workers`: the only profiles that may be workers, for example `["claude:work", "claude:glm"]`.
  It also bounds checkers (section 10) and hand-overs (section 9).
