## What it does

\`fixed-income` is a stub skill for bond mathematics and DeFi lending-rate analysis. Its current working piece is a Python calculator that values a bond from its cash flows and computes yield to maturity, duration, and convexity. Run the demonstration with `python scripts/bond_calculator.py --demo`.

The skill connects standard fixed-income measures with variable and fixed lending rates in DeFi. Its documentation maps out yield-curve methods, Nelson-Siegel models, and protocol coverage for Marginfi, Kamino, Solend, Aave, and Compound, but those parts are planned rather than implemented. The calculator uses only the Python standard library. Full implementation lists `numpy` and `scipy`; visualisation lists `matplotlib`.

Treat the current package as a working bond calculator plus an analysis outline. Yield-curve bootstrapping and a DeFi rate fetcher are still on the planned feature list.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill fixed-income -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/fixed-income/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/fixed-income/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill fixed-income -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/fixed-income/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill fixed-income -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/fixed-income/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills fixed-income
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill fixed-income -a gemini-cli
```
2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --path skills/fixed-income
```
### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)
**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/fixed-income/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works
### OpenCode
**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill fixed-income -a opencode
```
## When to use it
- price a bond from its cash flows
- calculate yield to maturity
- measure bond duration
- estimate convexity
- run the calculator demo
## Example prompts
- Calculate the bond price, yield to maturity, duration, and convexity for the parameters in this file.
- Run `python scripts/bond_calculator.py --demo` and explain each result.
- Show how a yield change affects the bond price using duration and convexity.
# Fixed Income
> **Status: STUB** — This skill provides a basic bond calculator and an overview of planned capabilities. Full implementation is awaiting community contribution.
Fixed income analysis bridges traditional bond mathematics with DeFi lending rate modeling. Bond pricing fundamentals — present value of cash flows, yield curves, duration, and convexity — translate directly to analyzing DeFi lending protocols where depositors earn variable or fixed rates on crypto assets.
On Solana, lending protocols like Marginfi, Kamino, and Solend offer variable-rate lending/borrowing. Understanding term structure and rate dynamics helps optimize yield farming strategies and compare opportunities across protocols.
This skill is informational and analytical only. It does not provide financial advice or trading recommendations.
## Current Capabilities
This stub includes a working bond calculator with price, yield-to-maturity, duration, and convexity computations. See `scripts/bond_calculator.py` for the implementation.
```python
def bond_price(
    face: float, coupon_rate: float, ytm: float, periods: int, freq: int = 2
) -> float:
    """Calculate bond price as present value of all cash flows.

    Args:
        face: Face (par) value of the bond.
        coupon_rate: Annual coupon rate (decimal, e.g., 0.05 for 5%).
        ytm: Yield to maturity (annual, decimal).
        periods: Number of coupon periods remaining.
        freq: Coupon frequency per year (2 = semi-annual).

    Returns:
        Bond price (dirty price).
    """
    coupon = face * coupon_rate / freq
    y = ytm / freq
    pv_coupons = sum(coupon / (1 + y) ** t for t in range(1, periods + 1))
    pv_face = face / (1 + y) ** periods
    return pv_coupons + pv_face
```
Run the demo:
```bash
python scripts/bond_calculator.py --demo
```
