## What it does

Ask it about market size, growth or a company's revenue and it goes looking rather than recalling. Firecrawl search and scrape cover market reports, news, investor relations pages, SEC filings and company sites. When a chart, tab or period selector blocks the numbers, it drops into the browser.

It infers the market, the data you need, the timeframe and the output format from your prompt, and starts right away. Only when something is missing does it ask a short question or two. Bigger jobs split across sub-agents: company financials, market metrics, industry trends, recent news and analyst commentary, source validation. The result is a markdown report with market overview, company profiles, comparison tables, trends and outlook, sources, and a rerun block that records the workflow inputs.

A `FIRECRAWL_API_KEY` is required for hosted Firecrawl requests, so nothing runs until that key exists. The skill's own quality bar asks for a period and unit on every metric, cross-checks of key numbers, and a note wherever sources disagree. It will not give financial advice, which keeps the output a research artifact rather than a recommendation. Worth deciding where that report should land before you run it — a ticket, the docs, or just the chat window.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add firecrawl/firecrawl-workflows --skill firecrawl-market-research -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/firecrawl-market-research/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/firecrawl-market-research/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add firecrawl/firecrawl-workflows --skill firecrawl-market-research -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/firecrawl-market-research/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add firecrawl/firecrawl-workflows --skill firecrawl-market-research -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/firecrawl-market-research/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install firecrawl/firecrawl-workflows firecrawl-market-research
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/firecrawl-market-research/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add firecrawl/firecrawl-workflows --skill firecrawl-market-research -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/firecrawl/firecrawl-workflows --path skills/firecrawl-market-research
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/firecrawl-market-research/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add firecrawl/firecrawl-workflows --skill firecrawl-market-research -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/firecrawl/firecrawl-workflows/tree/HEAD/skills/firecrawl-market-research/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- size a market with figures you can cite
- compare revenue, margins and valuation multiples across several companies
- pull numbers from SEC filings and earnings releases
- flag where two sources disagree on the same metric
- rerun the same research from the saved input block

## Example prompts
- Give me a market overview of AI code assistants: size, growth, key players, with sources.
- Compare these three public companies on revenue, margin and valuation multiples for the latest reported period.
- Check the market numbers in my draft and show me where the sources conflict.

# Firecrawl Market Research

Use this for sourced market and financial research.

## Onboarding Interview

Infer the market/company, data focus, timeframe, and output format from context. If the research target is clear, proceed immediately.

Ask at most 1-3 concise questions only if blocked, such as the market/company, required data focus, or timeframe/geography.

## Firecrawl Collection Plan

Use Firecrawl search and scrape for market reports, news, investor relations, SEC filings, and company pages. Use browser where charts, tabs, period selectors, or financial portals require interaction.

Common sources include company investor relations pages, SEC filings, financial portals, earnings releases, industry reports, and news.

## Parallel Work

If appropriate, use sub-agents or equivalent parallel task runners:

- company financials
- market metrics
- industry trends
- recent news and analyst commentary
- source validation

## Final Deliverable

```markdown
# Market Research: [Market]
## Market Overview
[Industry description, size, growth, key players]
## Company Profiles
[Financial summary, market metrics, recent developments]
## Comparison Tables
[Revenue, margins, valuation multiples, growth]
## Trends And Outlook
[Industry trends, forecasts, risks]
## Sources
[URLs and data extracted]
## Rerun Inputs
workflow: firecrawl-market-research
query: [market/company]
companies: [list]
data_points: [all/financial/metrics/trends]
output: [json/markdown]
```
