## What it does

The skill builds a candidate list from Twitter/X. It starts with tweet searches around stack and role keywords, then pulls fuller profiles for the handles it found, then scores each person. Every row carries a handle, a name, the stack picked up from bio and tweets, follower count, and hints that someone is job hunting.

Under the hood it drives two Apify actors, `apidojo/twitter-user-scraper` and `apidojo/tweet-scraper`. The bundled `scripts/run_actor.js` waits for a run to finish and writes the output as CSV or JSON; the same actors can be called through the Apify MCP server or the REST API. Set `APIFY_TOKEN` in your environment or a `.env` file first — the script and the API calls both fail without it.

Scoring weighs stack confirmation, an open-to-work signal, follower count and how recently the person tweeted, and sorts profiles into active, passive and dormant tiers. Two things to watch. Bio location is free text, so a city filter will pull in junk. And accounts with a large following often turn out to be dev-tool marketing pages rather than engineers.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-software-engineers-on-twitter -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/finding-software-engineers-on-twitter/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/finding-software-engineers-on-twitter/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-software-engineers-on-twitter -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/finding-software-engineers-on-twitter/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-software-engineers-on-twitter -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/finding-software-engineers-on-twitter/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install apidojo-io/apidojo-skills finding-software-engineers-on-twitter
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/finding-software-engineers-on-twitter/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-software-engineers-on-twitter -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --path skills/intent/finding-software-engineers-on-twitter
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/finding-software-engineers-on-twitter/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-software-engineers-on-twitter -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- find backend, frontend or full-stack engineers on Twitter/X
- build a candidate list around one tech stack
- filter out marketing accounts and bots
- spot developers who are open to offers
- export the profiles you found to CSV or JSON

## Example prompts
- Find senior Python engineers on Twitter who are open to work and give me a table with their stack and follower counts
- Pull frontend candidates with React in their bio and flag anyone who tweeted about job hunting this month
- Run a search for Rust engineers and save the results to `results.csv`

# Finding Software Engineers on Twitter

Discovers software engineers on Twitter/X via tech stack keywords, open-to-work signals, and engineering community activity. Twitter surfaces engineers who are active in their tech community — a strong passive candidate signal.

## Prerequisites

- Optional: Apify MCP server installed

## Inputs

| Parameter | Type | Required | Default | Notes |
|-----------|------|----------|---------|-------|
| `startUrls` | array | Optional | `[]` | Twitter profile or tweet URLs |
| `twitterHandles` | array | Optional | `[]` | Twitter usernames (without @) |
| `twitterUserIds` | array | Optional | `[]` | Twitter user IDs |
| `getFollowers` | boolean | Optional | `false` | Extract follower lists |
