## What it does

This skill searches role-focused tweets with `apidojo~tweet-scraper`, collects distinct authors, and enriches their profiles through `apidojo~twitter-user-scraper`. It checks bios and posts for ML specialties, research indicators, activity, and open-to-work signals. Results can include names, handles, technologies, follower counts, and a candidate-fit score.

The workflow can run through `scripts/run_actor.js`, Apify MCP, or the REST API. The helper prints a table or writes CSV and JSON files. Inputs cover profile, tweet, user ID, follower, following, and retweeter sources, along with `maxItems` and `customMapFunction`.

The actors need `APIFY_TOKEN` in the environment or a `.env` file. Account filtering also handles company profiles, possible bots, inactive authors, and free-text locations, so a broad search can require manual review.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-data-scientists-on-twitter -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/finding-data-scientists-on-twitter/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/finding-data-scientists-on-twitter/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-data-scientists-on-twitter -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/finding-data-scientists-on-twitter/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-data-scientists-on-twitter -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/finding-data-scientists-on-twitter/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install apidojo-io/apidojo-skills finding-data-scientists-on-twitter
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/finding-data-scientists-on-twitter/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-data-scientists-on-twitter -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --path skills/intent/finding-data-scientists-on-twitter
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/finding-data-scientists-on-twitter/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-data-scientists-on-twitter -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- find ML engineers by specialty on Twitter
- build a candidate list from job-seeking tweets
- enrich profiles with stack and research signals
- filter company accounts and possible bots

## Example prompts
- Find data scientists and ML engineers on Twitter who are open to work, then return their profiles.
- Search for NLP and LLM specialists, inspect their bios and recent posts, and rank the candidates.
- Find people posting about machine learning jobs and save the results as CSV.

# Finding Data Scientists And Ml Engineers on Twitter

Discovers data scientists and ML engineers on Twitter via skill keywords, portfolio/project signals, and open-to-work indicators. Twitter surfaces professionals who actively discuss their craft — a strong passive candidate signal.

## Prerequisites

- `APIFY_TOKEN` environment variable set
- Optional: Apify MCP server installed

## Inputs

| Parameter | Type | Required | Default | Notes |
|-----------|------|----------|---------|-------|
| `startUrls` | array | Optional | `[]` | Twitter profile or tweet URLs |
| `twitterHandles` | array | Optional | `[]` | Twitter usernames (without @) |
| `twitterUserIds` | array | Optional | `[]` | Twitter user IDs |
| `getFollowers` | boolean | Optional | `false` | Extract follower lists |
| `getFollowing` | boolean | Optional | `false` | Extract following lists |
| `getRetweeters` | boolean | Optional | `false` | Extract retweeters of a tweet URL |
| `includeUnavailableUsers` | boolean | Optional | `false` | Include unavailable/suspended users |
| `maxItems` | number | Optional | Unlimited | Maximum users to return |
| `customMapFunction` | string | Optional | — | JavaScript function to transform each output object |

## Workflow

```
Progress:
- [ ] Step 1: Search for role-specific tweets
- [ ] Step 2: Collect unique handles
- [ ] Step 3: Enrich profiles
- [ ] Step 4: Score candidate fit
- [ ] Step 5: Deliver candidate list
```
