# find-anyone

Builds a corroborated profile of a specific person from public records. Binds the name to a second selector first so two namesakes never merge.

## What it does

The skill walks the agent through a fixed sequence. Write the objective and the out-of-bounds list first, then anchor the name to an employer, city, photo, email or age band. Collection follows a cheap-to-noisy order: professional networks and bios, papers and patents, licensing boards, corporate filings, court and land records, social accounts, and data brokers last. Every claim is captured with its source URL, access date and an archived copy.

The corroboration bar is two independent sources per claim. Independence is about origin, not website: three brokers who resell each other count as one source, while a registry filing and a bylined article count as two. A separate step covers backing out when you have landed on a namesake — an age or graduation year outside your band, a career gap that needs two full-time roles at once, a middle initial that conflicts.

The skill refuses to run on a bare name. A common name with no second selector is treated as not investigable, and the agent is told to go back to the requester. Non-Latin-script names need the native spelling plus every transliteration your sources actually use, because registries, papers and press each pick a different romanisation. Always out of bounds: a private person's home address, routine movements, children, medical or immigration status, and anything that puts you in contact with the subject.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add UseOSINT/Skills --skill find-anyone -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/find-anyone/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/find-anyone/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add UseOSINT/Skills --skill find-anyone -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/find-anyone/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add UseOSINT/Skills --skill find-anyone -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/find-anyone/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install UseOSINT/Skills find-anyone
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/find-anyone/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**

gemini skills install https://github.com/UseOSINT/Skills --path skills/find-anyone
```
### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)
**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/find-anyone/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works
### OpenCode
**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add UseOSINT/Skills --skill find-anyone -a opencode
```
### Claude.ai
**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills
Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/UseOSINT/Skills/tree/HEAD/skills/find-anyone/SKILL.md
## When to use it
- profile a counterparty before a deal
- verify where someone actually worked
- spot and discard namesake records
- confirm a licence or patent on a name
- run a self-exposure audit on yourself
## Example prompts
- Profile this counterparty: name, company and city, with sources
- Find this person's patents and papers and tie them to an employer
- Run an open-source search on me and show what comes up
# Find anyone
Turn a name into a sourced profile of one specific human. The work is 20% finding
data and 80% proving the data belongs to your subject and not to someone with the
same name. Beginners collect first and disambiguate later; that is how you end up
with a confident, well-cited dossier describing two different people fused into
one. Bind the name to a second selector before you collect anything.
## Step 1 — Authorized scope
Write down, before searching: the subject, the objective, what is in bounds, what
is out of bounds, and which jurisdiction's law governs you and the subject. Read
[../../ETHICS.md](../../ETHICS.md).
Built for: counterparty and investor due diligence, fraud and asset
investigation, journalism, skip tracing and debt recovery, missing persons,
pre-employment integrity checks on senior or fiduciary roles, and personal
self-defense — running yourself to see what an attacker would find.
Out of bounds, always: establishing a private individual's home address, routine
movements, children, medical status, immigration status, or sexuality for any
purpose other than a documented lawful one; anything that puts you in contact
with the subject; and any use a reasonable person would call surveillance. If
your objective is to confront, embarrass, or reach the subject in person, stop.
See also the US employment-and-tenancy restriction in
`dig-through-data-brokers`, which binds a large share of the sources here.
**Done when** the scope note exists in the case file, names a lawful objective,
and states an explicit out-of-bounds list.
## Step 2 — Bind the name to a second selector
Never search on a name alone. Pick an anchor and carry it into every query.
