## What it does

The skill projects all three statements at once and keeps the links between them intact. Net income flows into retained earnings, changes in balance sheet items drive the cash flow statement, and ending cash returns to the balance sheet. Cash acts as the plug that makes the balance check pass.

You feed it 2–3 years of history: income statement, balance sheet and, if you have one, a cash flow statement. Then you set the drivers — revenue growth, gross margin, SG&A share, capex as a percent of revenue, and DSO, DIO, DPO days. Formulas follow the usual pattern: revenue grows off the prior year, receivables equal revenue times DSO/365, PP&E rolls forward with capex minus D&A.

Scope is your call: income statement alone, income statement plus balance sheet, or the full three-statement build with cash flow. Base, bull and bear cases are supported. It does not pull live financial data and does not guarantee the projections, so the driver numbers are yours to defend. Output goes through the `office-mcp` MCP server with `read_xlsx`, `create_xlsx`, `apply_formula` and `create_chart` — without it nothing lands in Excel.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill financial-modeling -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/financial-modeling/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/financial-modeling/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill financial-modeling -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/financial-modeling/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill financial-modeling -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/financial-modeling/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills financial-modeling
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/financial-modeling/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill financial-modeling -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path financial-modeling
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/financial-modeling/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill financial-modeling -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/financial-modeling/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- link income statement, balance sheet and cash flow into one model
- project revenue and expenses five years out
- model working capital through DSO, DIO and DPO
- build a debt schedule with interest and repayment
- compare base, bull and bear scenarios

## Example prompts
- Build a three-statement model from this two-year history, five-year horizon
- Create the balance sheet and check that assets equal liabilities plus equity
- Run base, bull and bear cases on revenue growth

# Financial Modeling Skill

## Overview

I help you build integrated 3-statement financial models that link Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement. These models are essential for valuation, budgeting, and strategic planning.

**What I can do:**
- Build income statement projections
- Create balance sheet forecasts
- Generate cash flow statements
- Model working capital requirements
- Build debt schedules and interest calculations
- Create scenario analysis (base/bull/bear cases)

**What I cannot do:**
- Access real-time financial data
- Guarantee projection accuracy
- Provide accounting advice
- Replace professional financial analysis

---

## How to Use Me

### Step 1: Provide Historical Data

I need 2-3 years of:
- Income statement (revenue, COGS, operating expenses)
- Balance sheet (assets, liabilities, equity)
- Cash flow statement (optional but helpful)

### Step 2: Define Projection Assumptions

Key drivers:
- Revenue growth rate
- Gross margin
- Operating expense ratios
- Capex as % of revenue
- Working capital days (DSO, DIO, DPO)

### Step 3: Choose Model Scope
