## What it does

The skill covers the whole path from raw transactions to a report. `scripts/extract_pdf_data.py` pulls operations out of a bank statement into CSV, then `scripts/analyze_finances.py` totals income, expenses, net savings, savings rate, daily average spending and the five largest payments. Finally `scripts/generate_report.py` builds an interactive HTML page with a doughnut chart by category and a bar chart comparing income against expenses.

Your data needs columns `Date`, `Description`, `Income`, `Type`, `Amount`. Dates go as YYYY-MM-DD or another parseable string, amounts are signed: positive for income, negative for expenses. Keep category names identical across rows, otherwise the breakdown drifts. PDF extraction needs `pdfplumber`, analysis needs `pandas`, both installed with `pip`. Charts load from a CDN, so the report will not render offline.

Recommendations follow fixed thresholds: a savings rate under 10% is a signal to trim discretionary spending, 20–30% counts as strong. Category guidelines are baked in too: housing 25–30% of income, transport 10–15%, food 10–15%. You can edit the thresholds inside `generate_budget_recommendations()` and add your own categories in `analyze_finances.py`.
