## What it does

The skill kicks in when you paste a Figma file link, drop a screenshot and mention Figma, or ask it to pull specs out of a design. It takes the file key from the URL, reads file metadata and node details through whatever Figma tool the host exposes, then walks frames, components and text layers.

Expect a token inventory covering colour, type, spacing, radii and shadows, plus a component tree with props and layout, and tables for interaction states and responsive behaviour. Output goes either to `docs/{feature}-design-spec.md` or to an evidence pack for `prd-planner` — screen intent, tokens, component states, accessibility notes and open questions. Business requirements are not its job; they stay with `prd-planner`.

A Figma MCP server or plugin has to be present in the host first. Tool names differ between hosts and plugin versions, so the skill inspects what is available in the session rather than hardcoding names. No Figma MCP server in the session means there is nothing to read the design with.

## Requirements
- Works with: Figma

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add zhaono1/agent-playbook --skill figma-designer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/figma-designer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/figma-designer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add zhaono1/agent-playbook --skill figma-designer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/figma-designer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add zhaono1/agent-playbook --skill figma-designer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/figma-designer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install zhaono1/agent-playbook figma-designer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/figma-designer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add zhaono1/agent-playbook --skill figma-designer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/zhaono1/agent-playbook --path skills/figma-designer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/figma-designer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add zhaono1/agent-playbook --skill figma-designer -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/zhaono1/agent-playbook/tree/HEAD/skills/figma-designer/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- pull colours, fonts and spacing out of a mockup into a structured list
- document props and states of a button, input or card for an engineer
- record how elements reflow when the viewport narrows
- gather design evidence before writing a PRD
- surface unanswered design questions before coding starts

## Example prompts
- Analyze https://www.figma.com/file/... and list every design token
- Write a spec for the Primary Button component including all states
- Build the evidence pack for `prd-planner` from this screen

# Figma Designer

> "Transform Figma designs into implementation-ready specifications with pixel-perfect accuracy"

## Overview

This skill analyzes Figma designs through the available Figma integration and
produces design evidence. `prd-planner` owns product requirements and technical
PRD methodology; this skill supplies visual facts and unresolved design gaps.

## Prerequisites

### Figma MCP Server

Ensure the host exposes a Figma MCP server or plugin before using this skill.
Tool names vary by host and plugin version, so inspect the available Figma tools
in the current session instead of assuming fixed names. The required capability
set is:

- Read file or page metadata
- Read selected nodes or node details
- Read component and style information when available

## When This Skill Activates

Activates when you:
- Provide a Figma link (`https://www.figma.com/file/...`)
- Upload a design screenshot and mention "Figma"
- Say "analyze this design" or "extract design specs"
- Ask to "create PRD from Figma"

## Design Analysis Workflow

### Phase 1: Fetch Design Data

```yaml
Input: Figma URL or File Key
  ↓
Extract File Key from URL
  ↓
Call the available Figma metadata tool
  ↓
Call the available Figma node/detail tool
  ↓
Parse frame, component, and text nodes
```

### Phase 2: Extract Design Tokens

Create a comprehensive design token inventory:

```typescript
// Design Token Structure
interface DesignTokens {
  colors: {
    primary: string[];
    secondary: string[];
    neutral: string[];
    semantic: {
      success: string;
      warning: string;
      error: string;
      info: string;
    };
  };
  typography: {
    fontFamilies: Record<string, string>;
    fontSizes: Record<string, number>;
    fontWeights: Record<string, number>;
    lineHeights: Record<string, number>;
    letterSpacing: Record<string, number>;
  };
  spacing: {
    scale: number;  // 4, 8, 12, 16, etc.
    values: Record<string, number>;
````
