## What it does

Reach for this skill when someone asks for a diagram, an ERD or an architecture picture of a Salesforce setup. Output is a Mermaid block followed by an ASCII copy, so the same schema survives both a markdown viewer and a terminal window. Sequence diagrams get `autonumber` to pin down step order; object relationship maps use `flowchart LR` and stay compact unless field-level detail was requested.

The skill does not discover your org on its own. Grounded ERDs pull real object and field definitions through `platform-custom-object-generate` and `platform-custom-field-generate`. Accurate OAuth pictures come from `integration-connectivity-connected-app-configure`, and Flow logic from `automation-flow-generate`. Skip those and the diagram will look plausible while describing nothing real.

Environment matters here: `curl`, `jq`, Python 3.10 or newer and Salesforce CLI 2.0 or newer are expected. Browser preview runs from `scripts/mermaid_preview.py`. Convention files under `references/` cover notation and a colour-blind-friendly palette.

Non-Salesforce systems fall outside the trigger — hand those to a general diagramming skill. Once an ERD grows past a readable size, the skill recommends splitting it by domain and linking the pieces in prose.

## Requirements
- Works with: Salesforce

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill external-diagram-mermaid-generate -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/external-diagram-mermaid-generate/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/external-diagram-mermaid-generate/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill external-diagram-mermaid-generate -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/external-diagram-mermaid-generate/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill external-diagram-mermaid-generate -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/external-diagram-mermaid-generate/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install forcedotcom/sf-skills external-diagram-mermaid-generate
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/external-diagram-mermaid-generate/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill external-diagram-mermaid-generate -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills --path skills/external-diagram-mermaid-generate
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/external-diagram-mermaid-generate/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill external-diagram-mermaid-generate -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/external-diagram-mermaid-generate/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- draw an Authorization Code flow between systems
- map object relationships into an ERD
- show the call order of an integration
- picture an Agentforce agent's topics and actions
- get an ASCII diagram that reads in a terminal

## Example prompts
- Draw a sequence diagram for the OAuth connected app flow in Mermaid
- Build an ERD of our Sales Cloud objects with relationship directions
- Give me an ASCII version of the integration flow with the external service

# external-diagram-mermaid-generate: Salesforce Diagram Generation

Use this skill when the user needs **text-based diagrams**: Mermaid diagrams for architecture, OAuth, integration flows, ERDs, or Agentforce structure, plus ASCII fallback when plain-text compatibility matters.

## Scope

### In Scope
Use `external-diagram-mermaid-generate` when the user wants:
- Mermaid output
- ASCII fallback diagrams
- architecture, sequence, flowchart, or ERD views in markdown-friendly form
- diagrams that can live directly in docs, READMEs, or issues

### Out of Scope — Delegate elsewhere when the user wants:
- non-Salesforce systems only → use a more general diagramming skill
- object discovery before an ERD → [platform-custom-object-generate](../platform-custom-object-generate/SKILL.md) or [platform-custom-field-generate](../platform-custom-field-generate/SKILL.md)
