# extension-stripe

Adds Stripe card payments to a Caffeine AI project: checkout session creation and status checks. Useful when you need to take payments inside a canister.

## What it does

The skill wires a `MixinStripe` mixin into your backend, which exposes the public endpoints for you: `isStripeConfigured()`, `setStripeConfiguration(config)`, `createCheckoutSession(items, successUrl, cancelUrl)`, `getStripeSessionStatus(sessionId)` and `transform(input)` for HTTP outcall response handling. Do not redeclare any of them. Put `include MixinStripe(accessControlState, stripeState)` in `main.mo` itself, not in a separate mixin file.

Underneath sits the prefabricated module `mo:caffeineai-stripe/stripe.mo` with `StripeConfiguration`, `ShoppingItem` and `StripeSessionStatus` types. Leave it alone. On the frontend the skill describes a setup component that checks whether Stripe is configured, plus a checkout hook: the `createCheckoutSession` result needs JSON parsing, and the parsed session must carry a non-empty `url` before you redirect.

You have to go through `extension-authorization` first, since this integration depends on it. Inbound Stripe webhooks — an external `POST` to the canister — are out of scope here; use `extension-http-endpoints` for the `http_request` and `http_request_update` handlers and verify the Stripe signature in the update path. The secret key and the list of allowed countries go into `StripeConfiguration`.

## Requirements
- Works with: Stripe

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-stripe -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/extension-stripe/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/extension-stripe/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-stripe -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/extension-stripe/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-stripe -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/extension-stripe/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install caffeinelabs/skills extension-stripe
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/extension-stripe/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-stripe -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/caffeinelabs/skills --path skills/extension-stripe
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/extension-stripe/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-stripe -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/caffeinelabs/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/extension-stripe/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- create a Stripe checkout session from the canister backend
- check payment status by sessionId
- render an admin panel that collects the Stripe secret key
- build a cart from items with price in cents and quantity
- hand the frontend a URL to redirect to checkout

## Example prompts
- add MixinStripe to main.mo and set up card payments through Stripe
- write a useCreateCheckoutSession hook that parses the JSON and checks the url field
- build a PaymentSetup component that calls isStripeConfigured()

# Stripe Payment Integration
Stripe payment extension for [Caffeine AI](https://caffeine.ai?utm_source=caffeine-skill&utm_medium=referral).

## Overview

This skill adds Stripe payment support using HTTP outcalls. The `MixinStripe` mixin provides configuration, checkout session creation, payment status checks, and the HTTP outcall `transform` callback. The frontend handles checkout flow and payment result pages.

Inbound Stripe webhooks (an external `POST` to the canister) are not covered here — use [`extension-http-endpoints`](../extension-http-endpoints/SKILL.md) for the `http_request` / `http_request_update` handlers, then verify Stripe signatures in the update path.

Prerequisite: You must follow [extension-authorization](../extension-authorization/SKILL.md) first, as this integration depends on it.

## Module API

The prefabricated module `mo:caffeineai-stripe/stripe.mo` provides low-level Stripe HTTP helpers. Do not modify it.

```mo:caffeineai-stripe/stripe.mo
import OutCall "mo:caffeineai-http-outcalls/outcall";
module {
  public type StripeConfiguration = {
    secretKey : Text;
    allowedCountries : [Text];
  };
  public type StripeState = {
    var configuration : ?StripeConfiguration;
  };
  public func initState() : StripeState;
  public type ShoppingItem = {
    currency : Text;
    productName : Text;
    productDescription : Text;
    priceInCents : Nat;
    quantity : Nat;
  };
  public func createCheckoutSession(configuration : StripeConfiguration, caller : Principal, items : [ShoppingItem], successUrl : Text, cancelUrl : Text, transform : OutCall.Transform) : async Text;
  public type StripeSessionStatus = {
    #failed : { error : Text };
    #completed : { response : Text; userPrincipal : ?Text };
  };
  public func getSessionStatus(configuration : StripeConfiguration, sessionId : Text, transform : OutCall.Transform) : async StripeSessionStatus;
};
```
