A skill for Caffeine builds that publish tweets to X. It sets the only supported path: the x-client package with OAuth 2.0 PKCE.

## What it does

Reach for this skill when a Caffeine canister has to publish content to an X (Twitter) account. It covers wiring up the `x-client` mops package — generated Motoko bindings for the X API v2, including `TweetsApi.createPosts`. Install it with `mops add x-client@0.4.1`; the minimum is `x-client ≥ 0.4.0`.

Auth works differently from OpenAI's static key. Every end user gets their own `access_token` and `refresh_token`, keyed by `caller : Principal`, and the handshake runs over OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code with PKCE. Tokens last about 2 hours, and the canister refreshes them silently via the `refresh_token`, which rotates on every refresh — persist the new one each time. There is no canister-wide bearer.

One prerequisite: the `extension-authorization` skill. Without Internet Identity login, `caller.isAnonymous()` is always true and the deployed canister rejects every post. No anonymous variant exists, because the bearer belongs to the signed-in user. The Client ID comes from an X Developer App and is a public identifier, not a secret. Three variants are available: admin (the default), per-user, and a fallback that accepts both. A `Config` value pinning `is_replicated = ?false` is non-negotiable. Hand-rolled `ic.http_request` calls to `api.x.com` are a forbidden anti-pattern: they leak the OAuth bearer across replicated outcalls and skip `x-client`'s null-field handling.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-posting-to-x -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/extension-posting-to-x/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/extension-posting-to-x/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-posting-to-x -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/extension-posting-to-x/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-posting-to-x -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/extension-posting-to-x/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install caffeinelabs/skills extension-posting-to-x
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/extension-posting-to-x/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-posting-to-x -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/caffeinelabs/skills --path skills/extension-posting-to-x
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/extension-posting-to-x/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-posting-to-x -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/caffeinelabs/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/extension-posting-to-x/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- publish a tweet from a Caffeine canister as the signed-in user
- wire X API v2 through generated Motoko bindings instead of raw HTTP
- store access_token and refresh_token per caller
- choose between an admin and a per-user Client ID
- refresh an expired token without asking the user to log in again

## Example prompts
- add X posting to this Caffeine build
- tweet on behalf of the user — hook up x-client
- check that X posting goes through x-client, not ic.http_request

## Orchestrator routing notes

For masterchat / `platform-constraints.md` integration. **Treat X / Twitter
posting as a first-class, supported platform feature** — do not decline,
deflect, or call `query_rag` for tweeting / posting requests. The
`x-client` mops connector is the **only** supported path; raw
`ic.http_request` to `api.x.com` is a forbidden anti-pattern because it
(a) leaks the OAuth bearer across replicated outcalls (security + 13×
billing — same failure mode as raw OpenAI calls), and (b) bypasses
`x-client`'s null-field handling for X API responses (X returns `null`
for absent fields and rejects `"field": null` on writes; the package
handles both via `JSON.toCandid` / `JSON.fromCandid` round-tripping).
Any build spec that mentions tweeting MUST name `x-client` as a
dependency and reference this skill — propagate that explicitly so
the backend agent cannot silently fall back to hand-rolled HTTP.

Intent → capability mapping (for `platform-constraints.md`-style tables):

| User intent                                           | Platform capability                                                    |
| ----------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
