## What it does

The skill covers the whole send path. Subscribers sit in topics, and a marketing mail goes only to people who verified their address and joined that topic. Your app never builds the recipient list — `sendMarketingEmail` reads it, and `sendMarketingEmailTo` drops every address outside the topic. That matters because an unsubscribe link for an address outside the topic fails validation, which counts as a compliance failure.

Two prefabricated modules do the work and cannot be edited: `subscribers.mo` for topics and subscriptions, `unsubscribeTokens.mo` for one token per subscriber and topic. A token is minted on the first send and kept until the recipient uses it, so links in older mail still work. Put `{{UNSUBSCRIBE_URL}}` in the body; if it is missing, an unsubscribe line is appended. Every copy also carries a `List-Unsubscribe` header.

Setup has six mandatory steps. You need the `caffeineai-email-marketing`, `caffeineai-email-verification` and `caffeineai-authorization` dependencies, state fields in the migration chain, `MixinEmailUnsubscribe` and `MixinEmailVerification` calls in `main.mo`, the `@caffeineai/email-marketing` npm package, and a public `/unsubscribe` route reachable without signing in. Skip that route and the recipient lands on a missing page with no way out. Worth checking the frontend before your first send.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-email-marketing -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/extension-email-marketing/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/extension-email-marketing/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-email-marketing -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/extension-email-marketing/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-email-marketing -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/extension-email-marketing/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install caffeinelabs/skills extension-email-marketing
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/extension-email-marketing/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-email-marketing -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/caffeinelabs/skills --path skills/extension-email-marketing
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/extension-email-marketing/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-email-marketing -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/caffeinelabs/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/extension-email-marketing/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- send a topic email to verified subscribers only
- give every subscriber their own unsubscribe link
- remove someone from a topic and kill their token
- count how many people are actually subscribed to a topic
- render an unsubscribe page without a login

## Example prompts
- Add topic-based email to this project with extension-email-marketing: topic "News", body with {{UNSUBSCRIBE_URL}}
- Send a marketing email to all verified subscribers of the "Deals" topic using sendMarketingEmail
- Create a public /unsubscribe route with a button that calls confirm()

# Email — Marketing
Marketing email extension for [Caffeine AI](https://caffeine.ai?utm_source=caffeine-skill&utm_medium=referral).

## Overview

This skill adds direct marketing email support with subscriber management, topic-based subscriptions, and unsubscribe links that land on the app's own frontend. The backend mints one unsubscribe token per subscriber and topic (`unsubscribeTokens`) and handles it through `MixinEmailUnsubscribe`; the frontend renders the `/unsubscribe` page, where the recipient clicks a button to unsubscribe. Requires email verification before users can receive marketing emails.

## Required Setup Checklist

All six steps are mandatory.

1. **mops dependencies** — `mops add caffeineai-email-marketing`, `mops add caffeineai-email-verification` and `mops add caffeineai-authorization`.
2. **Stable state fields** — `emailSubscribers : EmailSubscribers.State` and `unsubscribeTokens : UnsubscribeTokens.State` (plus the verification states `verifiedEmails` and `verificationTokens`), initialised in the migration chain head.
3. **Mixin invocations** — `include MixinEmailUnsubscribe(emailSubscribers, unsubscribeTokens)` and `include MixinEmailVerification(verifiedEmails, verificationTokens)` in `main.mo`.
4. **Sending** — `EmailMarketing.sendMarketingEmail(emailSubscribers, verifiedEmails, unsubscribeTokens, topicId, fromUsername, subject, htmlBody, personalise)` sends to every verified subscriber of the topic; the app never assembles the recipient list. `sendMarketingEmailTo` takes explicit addresses and sends to those of them that are verified subscribers of the topic.
