## What it does

The skill provides hooks and providers for Internet Identity auth. `useInternetIdentity()` returns session state, `login()` and `clear()` methods, and flags like `isAuthenticated`, `isLoggingIn`, `isSessionExpired`. Sign-in supports plain Internet Identity, Google OAuth, Microsoft (personal and work accounts), and company SSO via domain (Okta, Entra ID). All variants create the same session, restore after page reload, and work through one hook.

The app entry point wraps the tree with `InternetIdentityProvider` and `QueryClientProvider` from `@tanstack/react-query`. Requires two npm packages: `@caffeineai/core-infrastructure` ^2.0.0 and `@caffeineai/object-storage` ^1.1.0 as a peer dependency — the second must be added explicitly to the project's `package.json`. Integration is automatic: the skill is included in every project by default.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-core-infrastructure -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/extension-core-infrastructure/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/extension-core-infrastructure/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-core-infrastructure -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/extension-core-infrastructure/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-core-infrastructure -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/extension-core-infrastructure/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install caffeinelabs/skills extension-core-infrastructure
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/extension-core-infrastructure/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-core-infrastructure -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/caffeinelabs/skills --path skills/extension-core-infrastructure
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/extension-core-infrastructure/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add caffeinelabs/skills --skill extension-core-infrastructure -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/caffeinelabs/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/extension-core-infrastructure/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- set up Internet Identity in a React app
- add Google or Microsoft sign-in without OAuth keys
- wrap the app with auth and query providers
- restore the session after page reload
- configure company SSO via domain

## Example prompts
- Set up Internet Identity with the `useInternetIdentity` hook
- Wrap the app with `InternetIdentityProvider` and `QueryClientProvider`
- Add a Google sign-in button calling `login({ provider: "google" })`

# Core Infrastructure
Core infrastructure extension for [Caffeine AI](https://caffeine.ai?utm_source=caffeine-skill&utm_medium=referral).

## Overview

This component provides the foundational infrastructure for all projects: backend connection configuration, Internet Identity authentication hooks, and actor management utilities.

## Requirements

```
"@caffeineai/core-infrastructure": "^2.0.0"
"@caffeineai/object-storage": "^1.1.0"
"@icp-sdk/auth": "^9.0.0"
"@icp-sdk/core": "^5.3.0"
```

`@caffeineai/object-storage` is a peer dependency of core-infrastructure. Every project must install it as a direct npm dependency (the build template includes both packages).

## Integration

Core infrastructure is automatically included in every project. No manual integration steps are required.

# Frontend

The core-infrastructure frontend package (`@caffeineai/core-infrastructure`) is automatically included in every project.

## App Entry Point

Wrap the app with `InternetIdentityProvider` and `QueryClientProvider`:

```typescript
import { InternetIdentityProvider } from "@caffeineai/core-infrastructure";
import { QueryClient, QueryClientProvider } from "@tanstack/react-query";
import ReactDOM from "react-dom/client";
import App from "./App";
const queryClient = new QueryClient();
ReactDOM.createRoot(document.getElementById("root")!).render(
  <QueryClientProvider client={queryClient}>
    <InternetIdentityProvider>
      <App />
    </InternetIdentityProvider>
  </QueryClientProvider>,
);
```

## `useInternetIdentity()` — Authentication Hook

Provides identity state, login, and logout for Internet Identity.

### Return Values

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `identity` | `Identity \| undefined` | The user's identity (available after login or session restore) |
| `login` | `(options?: LoginOptions) => void` | Opens the II popup. Fire-and-forget — do not `await`. See [Sign-in variants](#sign-in-variants-plain-ii-google-microsoft-workspace-sso). |
| `clear` | `() => void` | Logs out and clears stored identity. Fire-and-forget. |
| `isAuthenticated` | `boolean` | `true` when user has a valid identity. **Use this for UI gating.** |
| `isInitializing` | `boolean` | `true` while `AuthClient` is loading from IndexedDB |
| `isLoggingIn` | `boolean` | `true` while the II popup is open |
