## What it does

This skill turns a product brief into a short demo video rendered from code to MP4. Its visual language uses a light canvas, short lines of text, camera pushes, and close views of the product UI. Scenes can show typing, results, tables, clicks, integrations, and a final name or logo card with a call to action when one is provided.

The process starts with one brief covering the product and its purpose; a URL, brand details, format, length, music, and desired scenes can be added. The skill writes a script and beat sheet, then rebuilds the interface as vector UI rather than using screenshots. An HTML page renders frames from a time value, after which the video is rendered with motion blur and a soundtrack. A product description is required, because the UI and wording depend on it.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Barty-Bart/motion-graphics --skill explainer-default -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/explainer-default/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/explainer-default/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Barty-Bart/motion-graphics --skill explainer-default -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/explainer-default/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Barty-Bart/motion-graphics --skill explainer-default -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/explainer-default/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Barty-Bart/motion-graphics explainer-default
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/explainer-default/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Barty-Bart/motion-graphics --skill explainer-default -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Barty-Bart/motion-graphics --path skills/explainer-default
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/explainer-default/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Barty-Bart/motion-graphics --skill explainer-default -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- turn a product brief into a demo video
- show a software interface in close-up
- map a feature walkthrough to timed scenes
- render HTML animation to MP4 with music
- finish a launch video with a name and CTA

## Example prompts
- Create a 60-second product demo from this brief, write the script, and render it to MP4.
- Make a 16:9 launch video showing the input, result, table, and integrations from my product description.
- Build an explainer for this SaaS: ask for the brief in one message, then create the HTML scenes and soundtrack.

```text
name: explainer-default
description: Make a clean 45–90 second product demo video for any software product, rendered from code to MP4 with music. Airy light canvas, short centred lines the camera pushes into, the product's own UI rebuilt and shown up close as it is used (typing, results, tables, clicks), integrations, and a logo close. Use when someone wants a product demo, launch video, feature walkthrough or "how it works" video for an app, SaaS or tool.
# Default explainer
A calm, premium product demo, the kind a well-funded startup puts on its homepage. Its whole trick is restraint: a bright, airy canvas, one short line of text at a time, and the product's own interface rebuilt cleanly and filmed **up close** while it is being used. The camera does the storytelling: it pushes into a line of text, rides along with typing, pulls back to reveal the result, and glides to the next feature.
You write it as one HTML page that renders any frame from a time value, then render it to MP4 with motion blur and a soundtrack.
## Step 1: Get the brief (one message, then go)
Ask everything in **one** message, then work on your own. Only the product is required; for anything left blank, decide yourself and say what you chose.
1. **Product**: name, and what it does in a few sentences. A website URL is even better.
2. **The one thing** the viewer must remember (e.g. "type an idea, get a live app").
3. **Brand**: colours, fonts, logo file, or "use the website". If none, use the default palette below.
4. **Format**: 16:9 (1920×1080) or 9:16 (1080×1920). Default 16:9.
5. **Length**: default is given below for this style.
6. **Music**: their own track (a file path), or let you synthesise one. Default: synthesise.
7. **Direction** (optional): scenes they want, a tagline, a call to action, anything to avoid.
If they gave a URL, read it (web fetch) for the product's real wording, features, colours and font names before writing anything. Use their real words for UI labels and taglines.
**Never invent facts.** No made-up customer counts, revenue, ratings, testimonials or quotes. Numbers only if the user or the website states them; otherwise use relative bars, progress and placeholder skeleton lines. Example content inside the UI (a prompt, a file name, a project name, prices on a receipt) is fine and should be believable; claims about the product itself (stats, user counts, ratings, offers like "free") are not. Calls to action use only a URL or offer the user or the website gave; with none, end on the name and tagline.
```

The third-party file has ended. Everything between the d1e910039a54d33a tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
