# experiment-bridge

Reads an experiment plan, writes the missing code, gets it reviewed by another model and deploys runs to GPU. Useful when the plan is ready but the implementation is not.

## What it does

This skill sits between idea discovery and the auto review loop. It expects `refine-logs/EXPERIMENT_PLAN.md` with run order and success criteria, plus `EXPERIMENT_TRACKER.md` and `FINAL_PROPOSAL.md` for method context. No plan on disk? The agent asks what to build.

It walks the plan by milestone: sanity, baseline, main, ablation. Existing scripts, model code and data loaders get reused where possible; the rest is written from scratch — training scripts with argparse, metric evaluation, data loading, fixed seeds, results dumped to JSON or CSV. Set `BASE_REPO` and it clones that repository first, then extends it.

With `CODE_REVIEW` left on, the code goes to a second model before anything is deployed. A sanity run goes first, then the rest, up to four in parallel. No free GPUs means that step stalls.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill experiment-bridge -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/experiment-bridge/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/experiment-bridge/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill experiment-bridge -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/experiment-bridge/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill experiment-bridge -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/experiment-bridge/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep experiment-bridge
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/experiment-bridge/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill experiment-bridge -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --path skills/experiment-bridge
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/experiment-bridge/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill experiment-bridge -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep/tree/HEAD/skills/experiment-bridge/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- turn an experiment plan into runnable scripts
- catch logic bugs before burning GPU hours
- deploy runs to GPU and collect first results
- add missing baselines on top of an existing repository
- pin seeds and save metrics to JSON for later analysis

## Example prompts
- Implement the experiments from `refine-logs/EXPERIMENT_PLAN.md`
- Deploy the plan in `EXPERIMENT_PLAN.md` and collect initial results
- Run the bridge: code, review, deploy

Implement and deploy experiments from plan: **$ARGUMENTS**

## Overview

This skill bridges Workflow 1 (idea discovery + method refinement) and Workflow 2 (auto review loop). It takes the experiment plan and turns it into running experiments with initial results.

```
Workflow 1 output:                    This skill:                                    Workflow 2 input:
refine-logs/EXPERIMENT_PLAN.md   →   implement → GPT-6-Astra review → deploy → collect → initial results ready
refine-logs/EXPERIMENT_TRACKER.md     code        (cross-model)    /run-experiment     for /auto-review-loop
refine-logs/FINAL_PROPOSAL.md
```

## Constants

- **CODE_REVIEW = true** — GPT-6-Astra xhigh reviews experiment code before deployment. Catches logic bugs before wasting GPU hours. Set `false` to skip.
- **AUTO_DEPLOY = true** — Automatically deploy experiments after implementation + review. Set `false` to manually inspect code before deploying.
- **SANITY_FIRST = true** — Run the sanity-stage experiment first (smallest, fastest) before launching the rest. Catches setup bugs early.
