## What it does

The skill works through the PICKLES mindset: prototype first, pick the right data source, define component boundaries, settle the interaction model, lean on platform libraries, then optimise and lock down security. Data access is mapped to concrete patterns — LDS `getRecord` for a single record, base record form components for simple CRUD, Apex with `@AuraEnabled(cacheable=true)` for heavy server queries, the GraphQL wire adapter for related graph data, Lightning Message Service for cross-DOM communication.

Ready-made assets cover basic bundles, datatables, modal patterns, Flow screen components, GraphQL components, LMS channels, Jest tests and TypeScript-enabled components. A local dev server ships with it: the commands in `scripts/local-dev-preview.sh` start a preview with hot reload, so edits to `.js`, `.html` and `.css` show up instantly. Dependencies install just-in-time on the first run, and an active org connection is required for data and Apex callouts.

Frontend quality is checked against a 165-point rubric across 8 categories, with separate guides for accessibility, performance and state management. The skill stays out of Apex classes, Aura components and Visualforce — controllers and metadata deploys are handed to other skills. It expects `node` 18.0.0 or newer, `npm` and `npx` 9.0.0 or newer, `python3` 3.9.0 or newer, and `sf` 2.0.0 or newer.

## Requirements
- Works with: Salesforce

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill experience-lwc-generate -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/experience-lwc-generate/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/experience-lwc-generate/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill experience-lwc-generate -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/experience-lwc-generate/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill experience-lwc-generate -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/experience-lwc-generate/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install forcedotcom/sf-skills experience-lwc-generate
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/experience-lwc-generate/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill experience-lwc-generate -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills --path skills/experience-lwc-generate
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/experience-lwc-generate/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill experience-lwc-generate -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/experience-lwc-generate/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- scaffold an LWC bundle from scratch
- pick between LDS, Apex and GraphQL for reads
- write a Jest test with async rendering helpers
- move styling onto SLDS 2 hooks and dark mode
- score a component against the 165-point rubric

## Example prompts
- Create an LWC component with a datatable wired to Apex
- Rewrite this component's styles for SLDS 2 and dark mode
- Write Jest tests for `lwc/orderList/orderList.js`

# experience-lwc-generate: Lightning Web Components Development

Use this skill when the user needs **Lightning Web Components**: LWC bundles, wire patterns, Apex/GraphQL integration, SLDS 2 styling, accessibility, performance work, or Jest unit tests.

## When This Skill Owns the Task

Use `experience-lwc-generate` when the work involves:
- `lwc/**/*.js`, `.html`, `.css`, `.js-meta.xml`
- component scaffolding and bundle design
- wire service, Apex integration, GraphQL integration
- SLDS 2, dark mode, and accessibility work
- Jest unit tests for LWC

Delegate elsewhere when the user is:
- writing Apex controllers or business logic first → [platform-apex-generate](../platform-apex-generate/SKILL.md)
- building Flow XML rather than an LWC screen component → [automation-flow-generate](../automation-flow-generate/SKILL.md)
- deploying metadata → [platform-metadata-deploy](../platform-metadata-deploy/SKILL.md)

---

## Required Context to Gather First

Ask for or infer:
- component purpose and target surface
- data source: LDS, Apex, GraphQL, LMS, or external system via Apex
- whether the user needs tests
