Outputs a static reference card explaining study modes, workspace files, and quiz rules. Useful when you need an overview of the exam prep suite without triggering tutoring or tests.

## What it does

The skill renders a static reference card for the exam preparation system. It breaks down three study modes, four time tiers, and six supported quiz formats. The card contrasts the default `lightweight` processing with the opt-in `full` workflow driven by `ingest_course.py`. It also explains workspace data boundaries: `study_state.json` tracks progress truth, `.lightweight/session.json` handles page batches, and `.ingest/` holds build assets.

Execution creates no side effects. The skill reads no student notes, scans no question banks, and alters no workspace files. It presents output in English, Chinese, or a side-by-side bilingual view. The card details strict provenance markers: green for textbook facts, yellow for supplementary AI notes, and warning icons for synthetic answers.

This card is purely informative. Taking quizzes or ingesting new courses directly is impossible here; live sessions require routing to `exam-cram`. Remote dependencies like MinerU, Docling, or LangGraph remain cloud-only and must never be installed locally.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --skill exam-help -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/exam-help/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/exam-help/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --skill exam-help -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/exam-help/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --skill exam-help -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/exam-help/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill exam-help
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/exam-help/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --skill exam-help -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --path full/skills/exam-help
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/exam-help/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeKaiNie/universal-examprep-skill --skill exam-help -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- clarify roles of study_state.json and .ingest files
- choose between lightweight and full processing modes
- understand differences between chat and visual output formats
- check source provenance and AI attribution markers

## Example prompts
- Show the exam-help quick-reference card in English
- Explain the difference between lightweight and full modes in exam-help
- What do the workspace files and status markers mean in exam-help?

# exam-help — quick-reference card

## Purpose

Render one read-only card covering the validated workflow, three modes, four time tiers, `lightweight|full`, `chat|visual`, workspace truth/views, six quiz types, provenance, and subskill routing.

## Activation

Use only when the student asks how the suite works, which modes/types exist, or what workspace files mean.

## Inputs

No files, arguments, or state reads. The caller supplies the selected language.

## Workflow

1. Emit the matching static language-pack card: persisted `zh`, `en`, or `bilingual`, otherwise an explicit ad-hoc request.
2. Read no wiki, bank, plan, progress, or workspace file; run no script/subskill.
3. Stop without tutoring, quizzing, ingesting, grading, or initialization.

The card must say:

- `processing_mode=lightweight` is the default/recommended startup choice. It
  inventories names, then visually processes only the current-phase PDF pages or
  definitely single-frame PNG/JPEG/BMP (maximum eight primary pages and one active
  batch). Overview contact sheets group at most four pages at roughly 768 px/tile;
  page/prompt/dependency detail and target-answer-only solution calls use
  source-qualified locations and canonical PNG evidence under `.lightweight/assets/`.
  Bind exact external answer pages with `register-answer-dependency`; dependency
  pages are locator/detail only. Figure prompt/answer crops stay distinct. An
  unfinished batch can close only through receipt-backed `abandon --reason`; taught
  progress cannot be abandoned, while `replace-taught --reason` preserves it as
  superseded history and plans an exact-slice successor. It keeps the page-batch /
  progress state machines and creates no Study Guide/PDF. `processing_mode=full` is
  explicit opt-in and opens the complete ingestion/review route. Input-token savings
  never shorten the teaching explanation.
- `artifact_mode` is independent from processing intensity and never inferred from
  subscription. Missing/legacy/unknown means `chat`. In full mode, `chat` stops
  without PDF while standing `visual` additionally requires typed Guide, render,
  receipt hashes, every-page QA, and `artifact_ready=ready`. A one-shot artifact
  leaves stored state unchanged. In lightweight, a saved `visual` preference is
  dormant and effective output remains `chat`; it never builds a Study Guide.
```
The third-party file has ended. Everything between the 52bd17dffd964aa7 tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
